I knocked on the doorframe. "Kaldur?"

He glanced up at me, before going back to his work. I sighed and walked in, closing the door behind me. I mobed to stand behind him. His shoulders were tense under my hands.

Kaldur continued working, until I started rubbing his shoulders. "Percy, what are you doing?"

"I wanted to talk to you." I mumbled. "I need to talk to you."

"There is a folding chair under the bed."

I groaned, pulled his chair back, and turned it around. His pale green eyes were wide as he stared up at me. One of my hands rested on the back of the chair, while the other pressed against his shoulder.

"I don't have long before I have to talk to my dad. I'm sorry."

"What?"

"I'm sorry okay? I should have never pulled you into this. I should have found some other way out."  I couldn't look him in the eye, so I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "I'm sorry."

Before he could respond I left. I don't want to risk Dad overhearing this. If he knows that this is fake then I'll be forced into marrying a noble. No. I'd be forced to marry a person who doesn't know where the Hades to keep their hands. Kaldur was more respectful than the people actually vying for my favor.

I took the Zeta Tube back to the Bat-Cave and headed up to my room. I  closed the door behind me. I crossed my arms.

"Okay, first off. Why? Just, why?"

"Percy, you know you have certain things you have to do."

"Yeah. Try to keep Tyson safe. Not being forced into some stupid engagement."

"I don't understand why you're so upset over this. You had a choice."

"You think that was a choice?! I tried to get out of it and I couldn't. Now I'm stuck getting married in what? A year?"

"In two months."

My eyes widened. "What?!"

In two months? Oh gods. I'll be married at seventeen. I ran my hands through my hair. Kaldur will be sixteen and I know...

I swallowed and tried to keep the blush from rising to my cheeks. The councilman said fulfill marital and royal duties and I know what that means.

Shaking my head, I swallowed. "You know, the society we live in today likes people having a choice in their marriages."

"Which is why I allowed you the choice of how your husband would be chosen. Something you were not supposed to interfere in."

"I'm sorry, why would I marry someone who can't beat me in a fight? If they can't take me down, how would they be able to protect me."

"The boy you chose can't beat you, and he was not one of the options given to you."

"He can do a better job of it than most people." I frowned. "And you know all those other people just want to increase their families power. I don't like being used."

Dad sighed. "I knew I should have picked someone for you."

"Yeah and then I'd never talk to you, murder my husband, and move to Alaska. How about you do me a favor and stay out of my life? You've already ruined it enough." I got up and walked towards the door.

"Perseus." Dad growled.

"You know who killed Mom and Paul, so go ahead. Tell me I'm wrong, when you know just how much worse you've made my life." A smile spread across my face.

"Congratulations. Now you're getting married in a month. Better go tell the lucky boy. And make sure he starts wearing the medallion."

I didn't have to look to know he had disappeared. My smile turned to a scowl.

Now it's a month? I left my room and walked through the house, until I stumbled across Bruce.

"I'm heading back to the Cave."

"Don't start any fights." He said, not sparing me a glance. He sat staring at a computer screen occasionally clicking the mouse.

"I'll try." I gave a mock salute, before heading down the Bat Cave and back to the Cave.

When I got there, I didn't expect to see anyone in the training room. So I was surprised when I saw Connor and Kaldur sparring.

Both of them were shirtless, and, while Connor was well-built, my eyes were trained on Kaldur. Despite his rigorous training as a soldier and hero, he was built like a swimmer.

Connor managed to knock Kaldur down and I giggled.

"Wow. Would've thought you'd be able to take him down, Kaldur." I walked over and helped him up.

"What do you want, Percy?" His voice was tired. I could have chalked that up to him just getting done with training, but I know it's not that.

Connor stared at me. I shifted uncomfortably.

"Remember how I said I was going to yell at my dad? Well...uh. I found out when the wedding is."

"After I turn eighteen, correct?"

I drew a sharp breath. "In a month."

"What?"

"Yeah. Believe me, I'm as shocked as you are. I thought we'd have more time to figure this out."

Kaldur moved to grab his shirt without saying a word. Connor picked up his and walked out.

"So, uh, feel like wrestling?" I asked, forcing a smile. He glanced at me, at my obviously uncomfortable expression, before shaking his head.

"Connor asked me to spar. I really must finish my work for the day."

My chest hurt, even though I knew he was telling the truth. "Okay. But, there's one last thing. He wants you to start wearing the medallion."

He pressed his lips together. "I will take it into consideration and possibly sent a message to him regarding the reasons I do not."

I twisted my hand in my necklace. "Whatever you do, be careful. Okay?"

Hello.

I shall start the idea chain this time...

Well I should.

Anyway. Updates might not happen often since how the Wattys are going to be this year. 50,000 words at least and a completed story

So I'm going to be working on Death's Apprentice more. Plus I have an exam this week and I need to start on scholarships and like eight billion different things.

Anyway
