The normally cloud covered sky of Gotham was remarkably clear and the stars shone down. I sat on the edge of a roof, eating a cheeseburger.

I watched the streets below, eyes tracking the headlights of cars as they made their way down the lonely streets. Gotham may be a city, but it sleeps. Only the foolish, the stupid, the brave, and the strong risk being out after the sun goes down. It just so happens that I fall under all of those categories.

I stood up and crumpled the wrapper in my hand. After a little while I decided to head back home.

It didn't happen.

I hadn't made it off of the roof I had been on when I heard an explosion. My eyes widened and I dashed towards the edge of the roof, a few pieces of it crumbling away as I rested my foot on the lip of the roof.

In the street below I could see...is that Robin? And Kaldur?

And the rest of those kids?

Oh gods, this can't be good.

As the person they were fighting rushed at Kaldur, I took a running leap. A quick roll to absorb the impact and I was back on my feet. I rushed at the villain as Kaldur struggled.

I landed a solid kick to her side before following it with an uppercut.

I took a deep breath as she fell to the ground unconscious. Then I sighed. "Are you guys okay?"

"We're fine. What the hell was that?!"

I glared at the girl who yelled at me before looking at Kaldur who was holding his arm against his body.

Immediately I rushed over to him. "Are you okay?"

"I will be fine." He dismissed my concern.

"Let me see it." I gently pulled his arm away from his stomach, something warm coating my palm.

Pulling my hand away, I looked down at it and saw it was red.

I looked up at Kaldur who smiled down at me.

"I will be fine." He repeated.

"Kaldur, she cut down to...oh what is it called..." I mumbled. "Well it was a vein or something if you're losing this much blood."

"Percy, I will be fine. My biology allows for my body to survive with wounds worse than this."

I glared at him. "Sit down right now and somebody find me some light."

As the others grumbled I pulled out the small med kit Will makes me carry. I pulled out the needle, which was pre-threaded and sterilized.

There's like eight of these in here and Will always makes sure to fix more for me everytime he sees me.

Someone snapped a glowstick, which provided about as much light as the streetlight before it was busted.

I quickly stitched up the gash in Kaldur's arm, using water to heal the worst of it.

"I wish you would not use that power. I know how much it drains you."

"I'm not letting you walk around with an injury like that."

"Okay, I'll repeat my question. What the hell was that?"

"Artemis, quiet now. As I said Percy is not an enemy. We should be grateful she decided to assist us today."

"Okay, now you're just sucking up." I rolled my eyes. "Now...what in the ever loving oceans is going on here? I mean, besides from kids almost dying doing something they shouldn't be doing."

"What, do you have a problem with us keeping you safe?" Artemis asked.

"What I have a problem with adults putting children in danger."

"I'm invulnerable." Superboy said.

"That doesn't mean you can't be killed."

"We've been trained to do this. And Artemis and I are the only ones here besides you without powers. But we both make up for it with our training."

"Do I look like I care how much training you've had? And do I look like I care that they have powers? This isn't news to me. I've...I've had my friends die. I watched them die right in front of me. They had training and some of them had powers, but guess what? They all died and I couldn't do anything to stop it!"

An arm wrapped around me from behind and Kaldur spoke into my ear. "You need to stop switching to Greek when you're upset.'

"I did that again?"

"You are talking Greek as we speak in this moment. They can't understand."

"Please stop channeling Apollo."

"Without us a lot of stuff could have destroyed the world! You should be thanking us for saving everyone." Kid Flash crossed his arms.

I growled and Kaldur tightened his grip on me. "It is not worth it."

"And how come you seem perfectly fine with Aqualad? He does the exact same thing as us."

I shrugged and pulled away from Kaldur. "I have my reasons. Welp, I'm gonna go to bed. I'm beat."

As I walked away, I was all too aware of the whispers of the teens I left behind. And I was all too aware of the single stare which followed me until I turned the corner.

Heading back to the Manor, I tossed the wrapper in the trash can. For whatever reason, I feel like I know Kid Flash and Robin.

Though that just might be because I keep arguing with people about whether or not kids should be fighting . The only people I don't have to argue with that about are other demigods, except the Ares cabin for obvious reasons, and Kaldur.

But seriously, I think it's obvious of why I'd have to argue with the Ares cabin.

Not exactly what you wanted but...could find a way to work the monsters in without it seeming really forced.

Anyway
