Dev was already having a headache from yesterday's hangover and now the bride's family's tradition of traveling to their hometown just to spend the first night really annoyed him but being the good son in law that he was he kept quiet and boarded the Innova waiting for them, Krishna and Meghna immediately jumped to the back seat of the car as that place had the maximum privacy, thank God I don't need to witness their PDA Dev thought . Dev and Trisha sat on the middle seat both taking the window side , leaving space for an elephant in the middle, seeing this pooja purposely went to her brother's side and told him to move inside

" No I want the window side" he said

" Just move brother". She ordered

" If you want get in" he gestured

" Are you scared to sit next to your own wife" she chuckled

Dev was not in the mood for his sister's teasing but he really didn't want to garner Trisha's attention right now, dealing with two women with a hurting head is a very bad idea so he just quietly moved to the middle. His height and tall frame made him sit in a very uncomfortable position, he didn't want to inch closer to Trisha so he was sitting more closely with his sister and this annoyed Pooja
" Brother you're crushing me" she complained

Dev ignored her comment and looked out the windshield

" Why is there so much space there, ouh I get it. You want to crush me but make your wife sit comfortably " she told that loudly so that everyone especially Trisha can hear it

Trisha felt weirded by Pooja's comments as she didn't understand if she was teasing her brother or really complaining

She cleared her throat looking at Pooja
" There's place here, I'll move closer to the car window , both of you can sit properly" she Patted on the free space next to her

Pooja's plan was backfiring as Trisha was trying to take as less space as possible sitting uncomfortably

"Please I was just messing with brother, please sit properly. You too anna" she elbowed him

they both adjusted to sit properly, they felt each others presence through warmth but both refused to acknowledge it . Resting his neck on the head rest Dev closed his eyes trying to sleep ,on the side Trisha rested her head on the corner of the seat with her forehead pressing on the window. Pooja looked at them both and tried taking glance at the couple behind who were glued to each other, the contrast my god! She thought. After traveling for six hours and the surroundins turning from dry buildings to beautiful greenery and paddy fields, Dev actually did find the change beautiful and comforting, the greens and plants were always brought him serenity. Trisha woke up from her deep sleep with an aching neck.

The house of Mr.Balan was a big ancestral property ,old and traditional in south indian style with pial and wooden pillars in the front part of the house, in the middle were two big wooden doors with carvings on the side.seems like my father in law was a rich lad back then Dev thought. He couldn't stop admiring the beauty of the antique house . Trisha felt nostalgic coming back to her grandparents house ,all her childhood holidays were spent here with them. She loved how her grandparents valued people more than money, how they refused to give up their lifestyle for anything else. Now they are gone and only the house is there as their remembrance. As they all entered the house was already decorated with marigold flowers dangling down in strings from all the wooden pillars in the courtyard and the strings were attached on the upper walls as beautiful scallops. Traditional mat was spread across the house for all the villagers to come and see the bride .The early evening sun's rays fell on the open courtyard , a few chairs were set up there for the brides and grooms family. People came to wish and bless the couple, old women admired the couples . As the day moved to night slowly people started to leave and only the family members were left. The right time told by the priest for their first night came and the women took the brides to give them a touch up of make up. An excited Krishna ran to his room, Dev was told to wait in his room too.

Trisha entered her room.
