"Get the job," Theodore said, pointing a finger at Steve. He paused in packing up the box to look at Steve.

"What?"

"You heard. Get that job. Don't be a dumbass, you know that guy never liked you in high school."

Steve stuck his tongue out at Theodore. "Well, I never liked him either."

"You're the worst. Rob, make sure he gets the job." Theodore said, looking over at his other friend.

Robin looked unimpressed. "You're not the boss of me,"

Theodore flipped the middle finger in her direction. Robin just smiled at him before she went out to the car.

"You sure you're going to be OK?" Steve asked, coming closer to him.

"Yeah. Nothing better to do. Go on, I'll be fine." Theodore offered a meek smile that didn't reach his eyes.

Steve didn't look too sure, but still clasped Theodore's shoulder before he left. Once the door was shut, Theodore sat back on his legs, looking around the house.

The house was emptier than it had been in a long while.

Theodore had done some cleaning. Abel's room had finally been emptied. It had hurt him to do so, but it felt a little better afterwards. He had to do things he didn't want to do. He had to get used to doing things that would hurt him like that. But that came with growing up, and being given a shit hand at life.

After burying his mom (in the same three-person sized grave they'd settled on), Theodore had busied himself. With the money everyone got from the government because of the mall and everything that had happened there, it had been enough to give Mary a simple funeral. Their family and friends had turned up, and Robin and her parents had helped Theodore set everything up from the funeral to the wake afterwards.

It had been a rough day. Theodore hadn't thought he'd have to bury his mother so soon after burying Abel.

Things had been so surreal.

But now Theodore did what he thought was right.

He'd returned items to those designated in the Will that Mary had left behind, family getting heirlooms she'd inherited from prior family members. All of her money and her car had been left to Theodore. It was enough for Theodore to set things in order.

Items that were left to no-one were donated and sold on. It had been hard, but Theodore had done it. He couldn't stay in Hawkins anymore. He didn't have it in him to stay in the place where his mom and brother had died.

He was going to travel for a while, then go to college in Cali. He had to be far away, and on the opposite side of the country would have to do.

Important things like photos, Abel's favourite toys, Mary's prized items, were kept by Theodore.
