Pidge

I had come to know that y/n actually lives right next door. She didn't come to school today, which made me feel down throughout the school day. I wanted to thank her for the bravery she showed, the bravery I couldn't acquire to defend myself. I wondered how I never knew about y/n's house, I guess I just never saw her come out of the house. Y/n comes to school early and she comes home early as well, which is probably why I never see her near our area during school weeks.

"Katie, why don't you visit her?" My mom suggests as she combs my hair.

I thought about it for a moment. I couldn't help but play with my fingers as I think.

Would she want to see me? I mean, she's probably absent because of me. She hates me for sure!

"I don't think she would want to see me."

My mom stopped brushing and gently held my face in which she directed my head to look at her instead.

"She defended you. Deep down inside her, she knows that you're not worth all the humiliation that you're getting. Have a think about that, sweetie."

What my mother said really did stir up my thoughts a bit.

It was really sweet of y/n to do that. I guess it wouldn't hurt to thank her, right?

"Alright, I'll visit her right after I do my homework."

My mom showed me the sweetest smile that she could muster and trapped me in her arms.

I nervously stood in front of her front porch. According to my mom, this is y/n's house. My mom insisted that I should wear a dress so that I could look nice and that somehow gave me some sense of confidence. I inhaled and exhaled to prepare myself for what's about to come.

I quickly rang their doorbell and I patiently waited someone to answer. Within a few seconds, the door opened and y/n stood there. She was wearing a big hoodie and some joggers, her hair was a little messy but it still looked good on her. I saw her mouth form a small smile and she leaned her body in the door frame.

"So you finally figured out where I live, huh?" She joked as she fixed her hair.

I giggled at her joke and playfully rolled my eyes.

Weird. All of the nervousness I was feeling earlier is gone.

"My mom told me." I replied, giving her a smile.

"Why did you decide to visit, Katie?" y/n asked as she raised her brow.

"I- um- wanted to talk."

Y/n closed the front door and sat down on the steps. She ushered me to come and sit right next to her and I followed.

"Go ahead, what do you want to say?" She states, commanding me to start.

"I just want to thank you for standing up for me. I really appreciated what you did, y/n. I could never thank you enough." I thanked her as I looked up at the sky that was now an orange and purple hue.

"No problem, Katie. You didn't deserve all that treatment you were getting. Plus, I think you're cool... You know?"

I looked at y/n and saw that she was staring at me with a smile on her face. I could feel my face tingle and heat up so I quickly looked down.

"Thanks, y/n."

I couldn't help but smile. Something about her just makes me feel a lot of different things. They're indescribable, but I'm certain that I'll figure it out soon.

"Katie, is it alright if we could be friends?" She asked with such a sweet and angelic voice.

I could've sworn I felt my heart skip a beat. There it is again, that feeling I've been getting ever since she defended me yesterday. I finally faced her and smiled even wider.

"Of course!" I happily exclaimed.

Y/n said nothing and just gave me an embrace. It caught me by surprise but I hugged back nonetheless.

This is a start of something new.
