The call came when we were in the food court.
The call was from Joseph.
"Hello" I answered.
"Molly you have to get the the hospital right now Aunt Kara was in a car accident and she's in surgery right now." Joseph frantically threw the words out of his mouth.
"What?" I say quietly.
I don't want to believe any of this.
This is not happening.
It can't.
"Just get here please." Joseph says.
I hang up the phone and look over at Asher.
"I heard everything. I'll drive you." He says.
Asher has his license.
His birthday is in September, so he is already 16.
I don't have my license.
Or my permit.
I'm also only 15.
I didn't fail the driving test or anything.
I just didn't take the test.
I don't like cars.
I don't like driving with people who just got their license.
But i guess I don't really have a choice.
As we walk out of the mall, something occurred to me.
I didn't even say goodbye to Aunt Kara.
And now I may never get the chance.
