It’s hard to fall asleep when you know you have an important day ahead of you, isn’t it? That’s exactly what Liz was thinking at 2 in the morning while she was laying in the girls' Gryffindor dormitory on her bed, excitedly imagining her first day at Hogwarts. Then she heard something shuffle in the bed next to her. She was in a dormitory with four more girls. Dorcas Meadows, Marlene McKinnon, Mary MacDonald, and Lily Evans. She was sure Dorcas, Marlene, and Mary had fallen asleep by the sound of their snoringg and deep breathing, but she heard nothing from Lily’s direction. She turned around and saw Lily sitting on her bed, looking through the window.
“Lily? Is everything okay?” Liz whispered.
Lily turned to face her and Liz saw tears in her bright green eyes.
“Oh… I-I'm f-fine…” she burst into tears.
“What happened?” asked Liz, while she tried to comfort her
“Do you have any s-siblings?” asked Lily, sniffling.
“Uh… yeah, two younger sisters, April and Crystal.” Liz said, taken a back by the question.
“And are they witches?” Lily went on.
“No, I don’t think so. Why?”
“Well… it’s just… I have an older sister, Petunia, and she is muggle and ever since I found out about my abilities, she’s been calling me all sorts of things… she called me a freak this morning… And I don’t know… maybe I’m starting to believe her.” Lily tried to hold back another burst of tears.
“Oh… I’m sorry about that… but you’re not a freak, Lily. Don’t you see? We’re in a magical school with floating candles, talking hats and transparent ceilings! It’s the coolest thing ever!”  Lizzie tried to cheer her up, but to no avail.
“I t-think that’s the core of the problem… S-she is jealous!” Lily said, still crying.
“Look, I know that you’re upset, but your sister will come around, you’ll see. And I’m sure that her jealousy is temporary too, trust me, when you go back home for Christmas, she’ll be excited to have see you again.” This finally worked.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right… Thank you.” Lily finally smiled
“No problem, that’s what friends do.” Replied Liz
“Yeah, we are friends. Well, goodnight!” it seemed as Lily was happy to have at least one friend in the dormitory.
