“Remus, Peter, we have to tell you something.”

That Saturday morning, they walked to their usual tree next to the lake. James, Sirius and Liz told them about what happened when they had detention.

A week has passed since and they were only telling them now because they figured Davies didn’t tell the teachers. If they had told them, they’d be involved and they didn’t want them to get into trouble.

“And you think he might be onto us?” Remus asked.
“I’m afraid so. We’re gonna have to be a lot more careful. We’re gonna try to hold the mandrake leaves this full moon, right?” said James.

Holding a mandrake leaf in your mouth from one full moon to another was one of the steps of becoming an animagus.

“Yes, I just have to search up a few details, but I'm gonna have to do it later. James, we have Quidditch practice.” Liz said.

The two of them were chasers for the Gryffindor Quidditch team and they were quite good.

“Oh, yeah. See you later guys.”

“Finally done! The guys said they're gonna meet us at the pitch when we're done right?” James asked Liz after they finished practice.
“Yeah.” She said “Shit!”
“What is it?” James asked.
“Davies.” She pointed at someone walking behind Remus, Peter and Sirius.

The six of them were alone at the pitch. They all assumed Davies had come to annoy them, but those were just assumptions.

“Davies, I’m warning you get away.” James said.
“Shut it, Potter.” He snapped. “I’ll be here if I want to.”
“Get away.” Remus repeated.
“I told you, Lupin, I’m not gonna leave.”
“Then what do you want?” Liz asked. She was glancing at Sirius and James, fearing they would make a wrong move.

“I want to know what’s your deal. I’ve been talking to some people about you, Lupin, and something seems fishy there. Tell me, where do you go every few weeks?” he asked.

“None of your business. And who have you been talking to?” Liz said. She looked quite threatening for some reason.

“Not your problem, Mudblood!” Davies said and drew his wand, preparing to duel.

Liz was about to take hers out as well but Sirius stepped in front of her, blocking Davies.

“Don’t even think about it.” He said, pointing his wand at Davies.
“Sirius, it’s okay.” Liz said.
“No, it’s not!” his voice was trembling with rage. Liz and James locked eyes and realized they were both thinking the same thing. Sirius couldn’t stand the word 'Mudblood'. It was because of his family.
“Don’t do anything Black. You don’t want to get expelled and go home to your mummy, do you?” Davies sneered.
Sirius was ready to curse him. Rage and anger were pumping through his veins. They all knew what was coming.
“Don’t.” Liz said.
“But he called you a.. a…” he stuttered.
“A Mudblood. Yes, but he called me that. I don’t want you or anyone else risk anything because of something I got called.” She said calmly. Sirius was starting to lower his arm and Liz was subtly drawing her wand out.

“But- I-“

“I know, just don’t do anything.”

He lowered his arm.

“Stupefy!” Davies yelled, angry that he wouldn’t get what he wanted, but Liz dove out of it’s range.
