Valentines Day (flashback)

As we drove on the freeway, I saw a billboard that was advertising for my favorite flowers. That brought the memory of valentines day back to me. It was the best day of my life, but in some ways on of the worst.

*flashback*

It was Thursday, February 14th. I already had my gifts picked out for Dustin. A bunch of 3 Musketeers, a card, a science kit that had a bunch of beakers, chemicals, and other fun instruments I knew he'd like. I got candy and small goodies for everyone else too, including El who I was going to visit after school.

I got dressed into a fuzzy pink sweater, jeans, white sneakers and put my hair in a half-up-half-down style and a white bow where the ponytail was.  I made sure my locket was where it was supposed to be: around my neck.
I also got Will some candy for Valentines Day because he had no one to really share his Valentine's Day with.

Once Mom had called Will and I to load up in her car, I made sure I had my gifts for him and mom had driven us to school.
"Here, Will. I got you some candy for Valentines Day," I said, handing Will a big  bag of candy.
"Thanks, Y/N," Will said, giving me a hug.
"You're too sweet, Y/N," mom told me as we pulled up to the school.
"Thanks, mom," I said.

Will and I got out of the car and saw our friends hanging out in the field. I approached them with a wide smile.
"Happy Valentines Day, everyone," I said, handing out candy bags.
"Sweet! Thanks, Y/N," Max said as I handed her a bag.
"I made everyone's bag different with the things you guys like,"
"This is awesome. Thanks, Y/N," Lucas said as I handed him his bag.
"Yeah. I can share this with El later," Mike said as I gave him his bag.
"No need. I already have one for her," I said.
I looked around and noticed Dustin wasn't there.
"Hey, where's Dustin?" I asked. Everyone exchanged looks.
"Uh, I think he's at his locker," Lucas said, scratching his head.
"Oh...okay. I'll go there then," I said.

I left the field and headed inside the school. I started towards his locker. I found him. He looked like he was writing something and his face expression looked like one that was trying to keep something secret.

Right before I was about to enter his range of sight, the last person I expected to approach him, approached him! Stacy Albright...

I froze. I was right next to the corner of the south hall so I quickly turned the corner and leaned my back against the wall to listen to the conversation.
"Hi, Dustin," I heard Stacy say in a flirtatious voice.
"Um...hi?" Dustin replied in a confused tone.
"Where's your gift to Byers?" she asked in a nosy tone.
"Umm...I didn't bring one..." Dustin replied.
"Too bad for her.  She's going to be so mad that you didn't get her anything. But...if I was your girlfriend I wouldn't be mad that you didn't get me anything. So...whaddya say?"

The bell rang before he could respond. I turned the corner to see Stacy dragging Dustin by the arm to Mr. Clark's class.
My blood boiled as the anger stirred inside me. That bitch! She was wrong! I wouldn't be mad at Dustin at all if he didn't get me anything. If anyone's the gold digger here, it's Stacy.

I went to my locker and put the stuff I had gotten for Dustin inside my locker. I was gonna give it to him later anyways.
I grabbed my science notebook and headed for Mr. Clark's class. I was now on, as what Mr. Clark would call it, a curiosity voyage. I was curious as to why Stacy was being flirtatious with Dustin when she rejected him at the Snowball! What made her change her mind? My guess is because she hates me because of what I did to her in the fourth grade when she was bullying my brother, but why this out of all things?

I decided to sit in the back of the class because I noticed Stacy had already taken my seat. I avoided eye contact with Dustin as I went to sit next to Max in the back of the class.
"What the hell is Albright doing with Dustin?" Max snapped, looking as Stacy was smiling and flirting with Dustin.
"Let it play out," I replied, glaring at Stacy and Dustin.
"What, why? You should beat the shit out of her for stealing your man," Max hissed.
"Don't worry. I'll handle it," I replied.
