CHAPTER 69 | GUILTY PLEASURE

___

KIM NAMJOON

My lungs felt tight. I shot my body upwards while grabbing onto my white tunic with the strings hanging low. My entire body was shaken up. All I remember was being in Sephtis after the war, Yoongi holding Y/N's body with no regret behind his red eyes. Then, I felt my body being pulled. Now I wake up to this. But why does everything look so.. different around here?

I looked at the ground to see the wooden dragon toys that me and everyone else used to play. I slide off the edge of the bed and reached down, grabbing onto the dragon. A small smile crept up onto the corners of my lips.

"Haven't seen these bad boys in such a long time. I nearly forgot what they even looked liked," I whispered and twirled them around a bit. The blue and yellow paint was chipping away, sadly. I then sniffed the air.

I got up, still holding the toy, while I gazed out the window. I opened the window with my other hand and watched pure chaos unfold. Blood thirsty vampires, flesh hungry wolves, enraged giants, and horrified humans. The mortals were all struggling for their life while the other hunters who were marked from the rose transform into monsters.

"Jason, no! Please—!" As a human turned into a werewolf, the soldier pleaded. Without hesitation from the beast, the wolf pounced on its old friend and tore their limps apart with its claws.

Screams could be heard all around, and beheaded body parts sprawled on the ground. The clouds were red when I gazed up at the sky. The darkness was far too thick to allow light to shine through.

"Y/N," I mumbled. "Do you really hate us that much?"

"The real question is—does she have any say in the destruction she's forced to cause?" I turned around to see Hoseok standing on my doorway with his arms crossed. His gaze looked sad, almost depressed. I walked towards him, but he immediately stepped away. "No, don't touch me."

"Hoseok, are you okay?" I asked. Who am I to ask? Of course nothing is okay.

He breaks eye contact with me after maintaining it for a few seconds. He took in a deep breath, "I'm sorry,"

Confusion sparks all around my thoughts. "Why are you sorry? Come on man, you didn't do anything wrong—"

"Yes I did!" He screams. "I caused this!"

Everyone then shows up. Jin, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook. We seven were back together again, in the same room we both used to always be in when we were little with Y/N. Jungkook looks at Hoseok with raised eyebrows, "What's up with all the commotion here? Don't you guys see the real problem out there?! This isn't a time to be arguing!"

"For once, Jungkook is right. We don't have time to fight right now," Taehyung announces as he was covered in blood. It wasn't his blood, nor did it smell like a humans blood. It was bitter. Smelled like roses. Taehyung seemed to notice and feel my gaze. "We aren't alone in this castle, Namjoon."

"There are creatures lurking around the castle. Nothing to do with vampires, wolves, giants, or fairies. Their body was formed entirely of rose petals, and their claws were big and sharp. They were lightning swift and could scale walls and roofs with ease. Staying here isn't safe," Jimin says as he turns to face Hoseok. "You've seen them, haven't you? You have blood on your hands, after all."

I looked down at the blood to see his hands grip tightly around a silver dagger with red rubies. He was gritting his teeth. Why is he feeling so much frustration? What happened to him exactly?

"Everybody, shut up! Just shut up!" Hoseok screams. "This is all my fault, don't you see? I'm the one responsible!" He cries out and looks at everyone with his swollen glistening eyes.

"Woah, woah. Calm down, Hoseok. Nothing is your fault, this isn't because of you—"

"Yes it is!" He screams back. "I'm the traitor in the group. It's me!"

We all froze and looked at him with shock. "What?"

"Because of me, the circle of death continued. Because of me, every time Y/N died, she returned back to life by going back in time. I knew everything from the start what was happening. That's why I always stood on the side lines. I knew from the very start that Nyx held the Seed; her soul. All the anger I brought on was raw. I was truly upset, but I knew. I made a deal with the Ancients and sold my soul to them, in return to bring Y/N to her awakening. The tormented souls, the forgotten men and women, endless conflicts, all caused by me," Hoseok confessed. "I did all this because I agreed that this world was never set fit to continue its life! We all failed our duties, even the Gods from above! Y/N is just a judge, branding us as guilty prisoners. We—"

Jungkook punches Hoseok straight to his left cheek. He falls to the ground, while Jungkook was breathing heavily from anger. "You? You did all this? You knew?!"

Hoseok holds his jaw as blood escapes from his nose. He looked at all of us with heavy sadness, "I had no choice! They spoke to me, and they guarded my memories from Gaea's grasp, just as she did with all of you! I had to lead Y/N to Nyx, otherwise, our freedom would never be guaranteed! That's how my fate was changed. I was destined to die as a lonely, motherless and fatherless child, starving and abandoned from the streets of Magnus. But I was blessed to have a second chance! That's how I'm still here!"

"Oh, would you shut the fuck up!" Jungkook growls at him and raises up his fist to land another strike. Hoseok puts his arms up to shield himself from Jungkook strong attacks.

I quickly snatched Jungkook wrist and shook my head in disapproval. "No more, Jungkook," I said.

"But, he—!"

"I said no more," I glared at Jungkook. He whimpered a bit and looked at Hoseok with an angry growl.

He snatches himself away from my grasp and looks at me. "Fine then, what now?"

"We need to find Yoongi. He can't do this alone," I exclaimed out. "He won't be able to handle all this war himself,"

"Yoongi probably doesn't even know that we're here though," Jin makes a remark. "From all this, he'd probably see us as hallucinations."

"True, but think about it. Yoongi's biggest fear is being alone. Right now, we're just standing here while he's out there alone. When we are there, at least he'll know that he has his companions by his side," I said and looked down at Hoseok. "We've all been through enough."

Everyone stood silent. "Fine, let's do this," Jungkook says and heads out the door with the rest. Once Hoseok and I were alone, he looks up at me with one bruised eye and swollen cheek.

"Why?" He asked. "Why do you not hate me?"

I looked down and responded with: "Because the hardest choices requires the strongest will," I extended out my hand for him to grab. "And we still need the hope you give us. We could use it right now."

He looked at me with wide eyes before tears started streaming down from the corners of his lids. He wipes them with his hand and nods, "Okay. . ."

He grabs onto my hand and I help him raise to his feet.

"Don't apologize for the monster you've become. We're all monsters in someone's story, even to ourselves,"
