"The brightest light can harbor the deepest darkness."

___

Nyssa and Omri welcomed twins, Gaea and Erebus, into the world, but Nyssa tragically passed away during childbirth. Both twins were born as divine beings tasked with protecting the planet's cycle of creation. However, due to their differing genders, Erebus was cursed by Bahamut, the God of War, with darkness, leading to their eternal separation. Gaea, born from the Light, assumed the responsibility of safeguarding creation and received training from Bahamut himself, eventually becoming as skilled as him.

The twins shared a strong bond and maintained a close relationship despite their differences. However, their fates diverged, causing Erebus to descend into madness due to the darkness within him. As the darkness posed a threat to the Light, Gaea was reluctantly tasked with confronting her own brother, whom she feared she must kill to protect the balance.

Gaea was determined not to abandon her brother. Desperately seeking a way to restore him to the Light and reunite their family, she searched for clues and answers endlessly throughout the universe, hoping that the stars would burn as bright as her determination.

Following the separation, Gaea's family also fractured. Growing up with neglectful parents, she grew to resent them. Despite her mother being a goddess of earth and her father a god of growth, they achieved little and became selfish, lazy, and irresponsible—motivated by greed.

After their mother's passing, Gaea was overwhelmed by grief and rage. Following during the Shattering, both Erebus and Gaea claimed shards of the broken Elder. As conflicts ensued between them during the middle of conflict, Gaea led an army south from the Elder Tree of Somnus. Despite facing formidable opponents like Chronos, the God of Time, Gaea, the Goddess of Light and Life, emerged victorious in many battles, even prompting Chronos to plead for mercy at her feet. She garnered mortal followers who prayed for forgiveness and mercy.

Meanwhile, Erebus remained isolated in the shadows of Eos, also known as Earth.

Erebus and Gaea found themselves locked in perpetual conflict and warfare. Their clashes sent storms raging across the skies, revealing their celestial battle to mortals below. Despite Gaea's attempts to assure Erebus of her loyalty, he remained distrustful. Realizing that mere skill would not defeat her brother, Gaea unleashed the dormant power of the Light within her soul. The unleashed Light devastated the lands, blinding mortals who dared to witness the celestial battle. Erebus, unable to withstand the power of the Light, rapidly deteriorated, losing his sanity and condemning himself to eternal exile in the shadows of his former home.

The Goddess herself was not immune to the consequences of her actions. The release of the Light plunged her into a deep slumber. However, her blood from the conflict gave rise to two sacred trees in the region: the Tree of Somnus and the Tree of Insomnia. Bahamut intervened to save Gaea, leading her to the Tree of Somnus to recover. During her slumber, Erebus's suffering spawned darkness, causing the Light to fade. Nights grew longer, mornings shorter, until the sun ceased to rise. Mortals organized sacrificial rites to sustain the planet's life force and sought a new Guardian after the previous one was slain, striving to preserve what remained of the dwindling glow.
