CHAPTER 49 | EPILOGUE
___
MIN YOONGI
The oceans depths are much like the sky right now. Not blue, white, just darkness. As small glimpses of light passes through the waters, the playful shimmers trace the same graceful arcs as petals falling through the air. A dance of breathtaking beauty, but mingled with a trace of sadness and death.
I heard a voice calling out my name. Whether real or merely an illusion conjured by my overwhelming desire to get out of here, I couldn't tell which ones real. There she was, far off in the distance, her image wavering and softly distorted by the harsh current. Her lips formed my name once more.
"Yoongi!"
Shouting out my name, a hint of desperation, she looked like as if she was on the verge of collapse. I had seen her like this once before, on a day when war finally broke out, when I was still a child and when she was alive. Her voice sounded muffled, struggling to go through the stubborn sound barrier.
Her face appears even more clearer, and now I can see how her eyes glistened as bright as crystals. Her arms extend towards my face, her soft silk hands touching my cheeks. Oh how I've missed her touch for so long. She floats closer to me with a smile, "Oh, my poor baby boy,"
She leans her forehead against mine, and in a while I've felt safe. I closed my eyes, trying to embrace her. But my body felt numb. I couldn't move a single limb.
"Mother," I whispered out.
"By the Gods, they finally allowed me to embrace you once more." She responds with a shaky voice. I couldn't tell if she was afraid to let me go again, or if she was relieved that she's here.
"They will not be able to escape with me slowing them down. If he does not have to protect me as well, I know for certain His majesty will be able to bring you and the world to safety." She says once again. I haven't heard those exact same words come out from her mouth.
I always thought her life lessons were unreliable, meaningless. But now, I understand. "Mother, where have you been? You've been gone for so long. I don't even see you in my dreams." I cried out.
"Memories run shorter than you think. Just like a one's life." She responds. "But this time, soul to soul, we reunite once again."
"Only once?" I asked, afraid this will be the last. "Why can't there be other times than this? I still need you by my side."
"Oh darling," she parts herself away from my head and gives me a soft smile. How her purple eyes glistened in the dark like planets of unknown oblivion. "This will not be the last time we will ever see each other nor embrace. I will see you again once the night takes you and decides your everlasting slumber."
"I'm scared of the dark," I remarked. "I don't want to be caught up in it."
"I will always be here, no matter where you go. I'm right by your side." She whispers and gives me a hug. "Oh Yoongi, I've missed you greatly. But you will not be caught up in anything but in my arms and love."
"What do I do now?"
"With Y/N?"
I gave her a nod. Receiving a sigh, she grabs my hands as we stand a bit distant in between. "The God of Light will guide you. I do not know what your next calling is, but no matter what — you will figure things out like how you always been."
"The God of Light?" I asked.
"Goddess Gaea." She responds. My heart jumps a bit. "Though we are born within the darkness, for any reason, we also have been chosen by the Light to preserve the monsters we fear in becoming. However, I only ask of you to do one thing—live. Live on, and promise me that you won't give up."
"I. . . I promise."
She smiles. "That's my good boy,"
A question then lurked in my thoughts like an everlasting wave of emptiness, craving to be filled. "Why did father kill you for your powers and blood if you are not a Pureblood?"
Her smile disappears. And I knew it was a mistake to ask, but it was necessary. I have to know either way, and this is my only chance to finally know the truth to everything. After all, father is the cause of the Min Family's downfall.
"Your father deeply believed I am a pureblood considering I have connections with them. He thought I was a second generation, but I'm far from that. I am part of the House Hope."
My eyes widen. "As in the Vampiric Oracles?"
"He believed that us Oracles have the same powers as Purebloods, but that only resulted in his death. You were there in time to make it faster than usual." She answers. "But I have to warn you—one person in your group is the traitor. Do not trust anyone so easily."
My brows furrow. "A traitor? Who's the traitor?" Now, I feel desperate, anxious, and somewhat angry.
"That you have to figure out for yourself. Until then, all the stars will align for you to follow. They will guide you to the right path, and you will seek freedom— rest."
She separates herself away from me, feeling sure that her son is in best care. But, I'm still craving for her touch. I try to swim back, but I was being pulled away by a stronger current. I looked at my mother with wide eyes, "No! Please don't leave me alone again! I'm begging you!"
"When you find yourself in a hopeless lightless place, look at the far distance — know that I am there. I promise you this, I'll always look out for you. That's what I do." She says as her voice now echoes.
My body began to become tired from all the moving and struggling. I'm now at a point that I gave up, and all that I can do is cry.

My eyes shot wide open as I gasped out. I looked down at the sword that was once dug into my gut, witnessing how the blade vanish into rose petals. I touch my stomach, feeling no gap between skin and flesh. I was still intact. I looked at Keres who's hands were placed above my chest. She smiles and slowly parts herself away.
"Welcome back," she says. I looked around and tried to find Crow in the flock, but he was no where to be seen.
"Where's Crow?" I asked. Instead of receiving an instant answer, they all looked down with heavy expressions.
"Crow, he—" Markus tries to speak, but bites the inner corners of his mouth. "He didn't make it. The Night Stalkers were overwhelming, and he thought that his fire magic could hold them off. But they were rogue, so he.."
I placed my hand on her shoulders. "There was nothing none of us could've done. He sacrificed himself for the greater good. All we can do for him is to let him live in our memories and thoughts. That way he's still alive somewhere."
I looked around my surroundings to find anyone acting suspicious, but everybody was in grief. If a traitor was among us, they wouldn't hold any emotion towards anyone here. Shit, this might be harder than expected.
"The awakening of Y/N once more will happen either sometime soon or later. Either way, we have to be prepared." Keres says.
But everyone looks at me in disbelief and shock. "You didn't kill her back at the Beyond?!" Namjoon exclaims out. "You killed yourself for a short moment to kill her, but you didn't?"
"I just couldn't," I whispered and looked down. "I couldn't bring myself to kill her."
"You have to stop loving her," Hoseok states out. "It'll do nothing for you and all of us."
"I know," I answered dryly. "But this time, I'll make things better— right even!"
Hoseok looks at me, but doesn't say anything. I stand up from the throne chair, "We'll do this."
