"Rise and shine Leilani," My mother said to me then pulled my blankets off. It was the middle of June, why the hell is she waking me up so early? "Remember I told you me and Kelly are leaving early, we have some last minute things to do with the wedding planner. So you and Brayden will have to drive up there in eight days, with Landen and Colton." My mom said, I completely forgot I had to do that. And the worse part is I have to go with ugh... Brayden. He's Kelly's oldest child, and Kelly is my moms best friend. This next week she's getting married.... again. And the wedding is all the way in Malibu, California, eight hours away from where we live.
"Yeah, ok." I said, then pulled the covers over my head. "And sweetie please have fun, it's summertime!" My mother said, then closed the door behind her. "Have fun it's summertime," I said mocking my mother. I don't have time for fun, I have to get my stuff together for college, and I have a million other things i'm busy with. I don't have time for fun,"
a few minutes later downstairs.
After some time I finally decided it was time to come downstairs, and leave the quietness of my bedroom. "Hey sleepyhead," my younger brother Landen said to me. "I can't believe she has to drive us to Malibu, this trip is gonna suck." Colton said, then rolled his eyes. Colton is Braydens annoying younger brother, "This is is NOT gonna suck! Why you might ask, because I'm going." Brayden said, then jumped on the couch. "Luckily you guys won't have Layton, she's staying with your grandparents." My mother said, Layton is my four month old half sister. "So you two are getting an early flight, and we're stuck with these two dipshits?" Colton said, "Language colt," Kelly said, then slung her louie bag over her shoulder.
"Ok we should probably head out, I love you guys so much I'll see you in a few days." My mother said, then we all said our goodbyes to them then closed the door behind them. "Listen so right now I'm in charge, so let's get a head start and start packing." I said, "Um actually, both of us are in charge. And since I'm in charge also, I say do whatever the hell you want. Just don't break anything," Brayden said, then jumped on the couch almost landing on my computer. "Watch it! If you break my computer we're gonna have some problems." I said, then clutched my laptop tightly to my chest. "Just get your mom to buy you a new one, it's honestly not that big of a deal you guys have the money." Brayden said, then turned the tv on. "Actually it is, I have important stuff on this computer." I said, "Really? The only stuff on my computer is porn, and video games." Brayden said, "Why am I not surprised," I said quietly. "Damn, why are you always in a bad mood?" Brayden said, "I am not always in a bad mood, and I wasn't in one till you nearly broke my computer!" I shouted,
"You know what you need?" Brayden said to me, "What a fucking bottle of vodka?" I said, "Yes but, you need a break. A vacation you need to go on a trip, more specifically a road trip!" Brayden said, "Aren't we going on one soon when we drive up to your moms wedding?"I said, "We'll yes but, there's this really cool music festival Saturday night in Las Vegas that I really want to go to. If we leave tonight or tomorrow morning, drive a few hours and rest for a few hours we should make it in time!" Brayden said, I can't believe I was actually considering this for a minute. I really love music I would love to go to a music festival, but then reality set in. We are stuck with our younger siblings for the week, and our moms would never agree to let us go. "We can't, what about Colton and Landen? And our mothers are definitely not gonna let us go."? I said, "What if they don't know? We could let Colt and Landen spend the night at their friends house Connor. We should be gone for like 2-3 days so we'll leave them there. And we'll just keep the trip a secret," Brayden said.
He does make a compelling argument, but it's just not a good idea. What if something goes wrong at Connors, we wouldn't be able to pick Colt and Landen up. Or even worse, what if we get caught? I was just gonna tell Brayden no, but I thought about what my mom said. About actually having fun this summer, and this road trip seems pretty damn fun. "Ok fine," I said "Really?! Yay!" Brayden said, then picked me up effortlessly and spun my around. He also had this stupid grin on his face, usually when he's smiling like that it's because he's being a pest. But for once his smile actually looked... I..I don't know almost cute I guess.
"Well I'm gonna start packing, later on I'll drop the boys at Connors house." I can't believe it, I'm going on a road trip." I said to myself,
