"I think we're off to a good start with this gala, I really like the idea of having a blind auction and all proceeds will go to the charity your family is sponsoring " Oakland informs Kayson and me. We've been at this for over two hours and it seems Kayson and I don't agree with what our parents want except the auction. However, I guarantee they will not approve of what will be auctioned.
"Well, if we're done here I need to go in and check on the club." My younger brother says as he gets up from the table. I notice the raven-haired beauty shift uncomfortably in her seat, does the idea of being alone with me really terrify her that much? Kayson turns his attention to her and says, "It was really great to see you again Ms. Jenkins." She smiles affectionately and jealousy boils up, I don't like it one bit.
"Actually, Kay, I think I'll go with you," I speak up and see Oakland relax but a mixture of emotions take over her striking features. "If you don't have any other plans you could come with as well."
"I don't know if that's a good idea, Mr. Russo." A spark of humor flashes in her eyes and a crooked smile sits on her kissable mouth. "Who knows what will happen if I let your brother get me drunk again." Oh, I see how it is, and showing her a grin of my own I lean over the table and inch my mouth next to her ear,
"I'd be more than happy to give you a repeat if that's what you desire but I have no intention of making a move on you tonight." Her face falls and it's become clear this woman doesn't know what she wants. She's so hot and cold it's giving me whiplash, but at the same time, I like that she's playing hard to get because it will be phenomenal when I finally get her where I want her.
"If my brother promises to behave and I keep my hands to myself will you join us?" Ocean orbs pierce through me.
"Why?" She questions.
"That should be obvious Oakland, I like you and would like to get to know you when you're in not drunk, or in business mode."
"I wasn't drunk at the restaurant?" The beauty fibs.
"You weren't drunk but you were buzzed, Ma Bella." I point out to her. "I'm not a man who begs Oakland so if you don't want to come with us then I will have Dane take you home."
"I'll come with you but I would like to go home and change."
"That's manageable." I get up from the table. "Kay, could you call Dane and have him bring the car around? I'm going to go change as well."
"Already on it, Bro." I give Oakland one last glance so I could get a read on her, she seems uneasy but is wearing a proverbial mask so it's hard to tell what she's thinking. "Dane will be here in ten minutes." Kayson says breaking the silence.
