"I'm over here"
Ruby yelled out to Iain"

What happened!" Iain looked at Ruby to Dylan Ruby to Dylan.

Dylan said" She was hit by a lorry, it veered off the road in her direction."

Ruby interrupted" I'm so sorry Iain we're supposed to be getting married next week!"

"What are her injuries?" Iain questioned. Lily still hovered in the background.

"As of yet I'm not 100% sure. However we are looking at a head injury and pelvis fracture. If her breathing gets any worse I'll have to insert a chest drain however for for now his pneumothorax is stable."

Iain distantly nodded. He clutched Ruby's hand tight .

"Right Ruby I'm just going to continue my assessment and Charlie's gonna run some obs whilst I do so.

Dylan felt Ruby's chest. She whined in pain, her hands moved from her side to a guarding position, her left hand still attached to Iain's.

"Dylan can She not have any more morphine she's in agony." Iain  interrupted Dylan's assessment once again, his medical knowledge got her better of him.

"She's had a large amount of morphine, she was confused and combative so I don't want to knock her out with ketamine. Once I've finished my assessment I will prescribe more."

" Hey Iain why don't you get one of those posh cup of teas from the coffee van and give Dylan time to finish his assessment".

Ruby continues to flitch at the pain as Dylan continued her assessment.

"But I wanna stay with you."

"Hey come on it's pointless you standing around, I know you too well you have to stay busy" as Iain nodded in agreement, kissed her forehead, gave a brief hesitant good bye and left RESUS.

Ruby's cheek shined even though she lay bed ridden, in pain and drowsy.
