she just stared at the boy in front of her out of pure confusion.

"who the hell are you?" she spat out and crossed her arms, nervously, chewing on her bottom lip.

the boy with bright red hair just smiled at her and chuckled, his hands slipping into his pockets. "my friend calum hood is beginning to like someone and she lives in this house.. let's just say he isn't the best with love and that i came to warn her."

"if her name is valerie," she said quietly and sighed, "hello. im who you're looking for, clifford the big red dog."

"hello, valerie. ive heard plenty about you." he said and continued to smile at her. "wow, do you know me or something? my name is michael clifford." he said and her facial expression completely changed.

"another one of ashton's friends." she mumbled and grabbed his wrist lightly. "calums beginning to like me?" she was clearly very interested in the topic, not that she actually had any other feelings for him, she just never had a boyfriend or anything.

"very much. why?" he questioned as he pulled his wrist from her, then sitting down on the couch, his eyes following her every move, literally,

"we met yesterday." she said and grabbed a half finished bottle of starbucks, looking at him from the kitchen. "and i don't fall in love on the first day."

"i am surprised to hear that. you seem like the type of person who would fall in love within the first site of a person." he just looked at her with one of the cheesiest smiles, and it weirded her out. "but, im probably completely wrong. you would probably fuck on the first day."

she closed her eyes for a brief moment before sighing deeply. "im a virgin, clifford. i wouldn't be surprised if you weren't, since you seem open about talking about sex to someone you've known for ten minutes."

they looked at each other for a moment before he lost his smile and his face was blank. "i actually am a virgin." michael spat out as valerie was beginning to open the bottle, almost shattering the glass onto the floor. "maybe we could-"

"i swear to fucking god if you try anything on me." she almost yelled, not knowing the boy that seemed like a rapist in her house scared her more than twisty from freakshow. "i bet you could be disgusted by my body anyways. plus, im only seventeen. and i don't know you, you could be a rapist or some shit, or just one of those horny guys that walk around the streets."

"don't tell me you're one of those girls." he said and just shook his head. "i have nothing against it, for a matter of fact, i give bracelets to people i meet that have them. it just doesn't seem like you have any. unless the sweater is covering them up, then my judgement is completely wrong."

she just stared at him. not wanting to reply, just to try and figure out what he was about. and after a minute of looking at him, she finally spoke. "i thought you came to talk about calum." she said before walking over to him slowly. "you came to warn me, not to talk about what may or may not be hidden and my virginity."

"calum, yeah. he's beginning to like you and i advise you to push him away soon. i know that sounds mean, but he fucks up relationships he isn't even in. i don't want such a cute girl to have makeup running down her face." he said before smiling a decent smile and standing up, heading towards the door.

minutes later, she was just sitting on the couch with an empty glass starbucks bottle between her legs, waiting for the arrival of calum or luke or ashton.

"why do you look so sad?" she heard come from the doorway, then looking over to see luke there.

"that asshole of michael came over to warn me about what a fuck up of a guy calum is when it comes to relationships." she plainly said and walked slowly to the recyclables and threw her bottle away.

"you guys aren't d-"

"we met yesterday. don't worry about it. i don't love them and leave them." she said before looking at him and smiling slightly, walking to her bedroom and feeling the need to watch something more dramatic than her life.

even though there's been worse. everyone gets worse and she tends to believe she has it pretty bad, yet there's people who have it worse and she doesn't realize it. she's blinded by it.

"hey," he said and slowly walked to her, sitting on the edge of her bed. "what'cha doing?"

"about to re-watch season one of american horror story," she smirked, playfully, and looked at him, "don't tell me you're to scared to watch it because you're normal. normal people scare me." she said, biting down on her lower lip.

"i volunteer as tribute." she heard calum say as he ran to her bedroom, making both luke and her jump.

"you fucking dork." valerie said and rolled her eyes at him.

"have fun, lovebirds." luke teased, just to make valerie tense. he walked out as calum and her had an intense stare down until he closed the door.

"how can you love someone you've know for under twenty-four hours without feeling weird? and give me a damn reason. not an 'i don't know.' because that's bullshit." she said and shook her head at him. "and don't ask how i know. your little asshole of a friend, clifford the big red dog, stopped by and explained it."
