Oh no, no no no no. How are we supposed to get home?
“I- Do you have any place that has a collection of mirrors? Besides a store.” I chuckled
nervously. I can tell Oam is on edge. He really misses Snugglemagne.
“We used to, but after one of them broke, causing the east side of the valley to spiral into
a nightmare, we burned the place down as a way to make sure it never happens again.”
“... Were there any mirrors left?”
“Two. They somehow survived the fire. We decided to leave them where the temple
used to be. They should be leaning on a tree.” I let out a sigh of relief. Thank god, I don’t know
how we’d get home without the mirrors from that temple.
“Can you take us to them?” Oam stepped closer to the vampire me, hope filling his eyes.
“Sure, it’s not that far of a walk.” Oam grinned widely, quickly grabbing my hand.
“Come on, I have a feeling this’ll be the one home!” I let Oam pull me to the door, not
resisting at all.
“We don’t know where it is.” Oam stops and I can’t help but laugh. “Vampire me is going
to take us there.”
“Call me Vam, I don’t want to be called ‘vampire me.’” Vam walks out the door and leads
us to where the temple was. There were barely any signs of a fire, only slight permanent
damage to the ground. It’s actually quite beautiful here, the sun shining through the leaves of
the trees. Some light land on the two mirrors.
“Home, here we come!” Oam rushed off to the one on the right. Wait, is that-
“OAM DUCK!” I jumped towards Oam, pushing him out of the way from the attack.
“Dangit. I thought I could surprise you. Guess you’re smarter than you seem.” The attack
stood up to reveal it was the shapeshifter from the temple, still holding Snugglemagnes look,
just slightly more damaged.
“What is it that you want with us?! We’re just trying to get home!” Oam stood up, helping
me get on my feet.
“You’re a betrayer of the temple, I’m not going to let you go scot-free. And I know the
perfect punishment.” The shapeshifter ran towards us, shifting his arm into a sword.
“LEAVE THEM ALONE!” Vam grabbed the shapeshifter by the back of his collar, pulling
him away from us.
“Ugh, get out of my way!” The shapeshifter swatted at Vam, him quickly dodging his
hand. Vam flew around him as the shapeshifter tried to attack him.
“RUN!”
“Come on Oam!” I grabbed him and tried to pull him to the left portal, but he pulled away.
“No, we have to help him. We can’t leave him to fight.”
“Oam, he’s here for you, it’s too dangerous.” I grabbed him by the arm, but he shifted out
of my grip, running to help Vam.
“I’m not leaving him to fight alone!” Before I could run off to get him, the shapeshifter
quickly turned and knocked Oam into the right portal, quickly disappearing into the other world.
“OAM!” I run off to the right portal, only to be thrown into the left one by the shapeshifter.
Oam… I’m sorry.
