His Love

Chapter - 11 : Knowing The Truth

I asked Vineet about the girl who met us at the restaurant. He was shocked after seeing her. She was behaving as if she had some right on my husband. I asked him again. After all, we are childhood friends and I deserve to know the happenings in his life. But, he has changed  in the  past five years. We promised to each other that we will tell all the happenings in our life to each other. I kept my promise but Vineet didn't. When our wedding was fixed, Vineet demanded time. He knows that I love him more than I love myself. He knows that being his best friend and wedded wife, I have all the right to know what is going on in his life. Today, after meeting the unknown lady, I was fearful. I haven't seen him this sad and disturbed. I wanted him to be okay.

"Vineet, kuch bologe? Maine tumhe time diya, jo tumne kaha wo kiya, par ab, mujhe jawab chahiye."  I said.

He looked at me briefly but didn't reply. I continued to speak.

"Vineet, tum mujhe bataoge tab hi toh hum  solution nikalenge na. And about that girl, I  wanna know, who she is. Mera pati kisi ko dekh ke pareshan ho jata hai, toh mujhe toh pata hona chahiye na ki wo kaun hai. I'm your wife, after  all."  I said.

He sighed. I hoped for him to speak now. Fortunately, he finally spoke.

"She's Abhilasha. Meri college mate thi." he said briefly.

"Usne ye kyun kaha ki wo tumhe ab jaan payi hai? I mean wo tumhari college mate thi, toh jaanti hogi na?" I asked.

"Wo mujhe businessman ke  roop mein jaan payi hai, pehle nahi jaan payi. Tab toh usne  meri insult ki."  he said softly.

I was astonished. Things cleared out in my head. He was angry because she could not understand him. But, still I feel there's something more in the story. Vineet  hasn't told me the entire thing. I look at him and he stood up immediately, holding my hand.

"It's high time. You should know everything."  he said.

"Haan Vineet, batao baat kya hai?" I said.

"Wo ladki, Abhilasha is my past. I was wrong to choose her." he said softly.

I was shocked to learn the fact. He loved someone else. Is it why he is distant from me. Is he  still in love with Abhilasha?  Will he ever love me? Such questions were bubbling in my mind. My heartbeat raced on hearing the truth.  I cannot share him with you , and I cannot let him go away from me. I looked at him.

"Do you still love her?"  I asked him with a fear in my heart.

He looks at me and holds my hand. I don't care how much time he takes to love me back, but I don't want to lose him to some random girl of his past. He sighs.

"No. She's my past. But, I need time, Ruhana. I know that you love me, but I still have things to take off my mind. I hope you understand."  he says.

I understand him. I want him to love me with all his heart. I crave his love, but I do not long for him. I know, eventually, he will love me back. I will be loved back, I know.  I nodded my head  positively, and at the same time, his phone rang. He attended the call and was left worried. The next thing that I heard from him was  that  we are heading for home. I was surprised, but seeing his worried face, I turned worried too. He didn't tell me, but I can figure out that things have gone wrong in the office, and he has to be there. Though, I wanted  to spend some more time with him, but I know there will be more opportunities where he'll be all mine, both with his soul and body. I can still wait for him.

I started packing while I saw him worried while booking the tickets. I kept my hand on his shoulder convincing him that everything will be fine. He smiles softly as he embraced me in a  hug, and asked me to join him in the office, which left me surprised again. We left  for our home, but somewhere, I felt that something was going to happen, and I need to be ready for the same.
