Victoria never wanted to visit the Grand Canyon. She wasn't fond of the thought of a 2,800 feet drop, even if there was water at the bottom. The possibility of her falling scared her enough to make her hands shake. She would have never thought that she would ever be going to the natural wonder, but here she was in a chariot racing to Arizona.
She tried to take deep breaths to calm herself down. Being in Zeus territory wasn't helping her anxiety either. Even if Zeus did grant her wish of being allowed in his territory last summer, she still had the fear that he would blast her out of the sky.
Tori looked over to her left to see her best friend, Annabeth, deep in thought. She was wearing her CBH orange tshirt under her windbreaker, some faded jeans, and combat boots. Her curly blond hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail, and she looked like she hasn't slept in days.
Not that Tori looked any better. She also wore her CHB camp shirt, ripped skinny jeans, and her hiking boots. Her sword, Tidal, was hidden and around her neck as it was a necklace until she pulled on it. Her wavy blonde hair was pulled into two messily done braids and her crystal blue eyes had deep bags under them. She maybe had gotten seven hours of sleep total in the past three days. This was because of the fact that Tori's older brother, Percy, went missing. That's why Tori was on her way to The Grand Canyon in the air, because Annabeth got a vision from Hera to go and find the problems to her problems.
"Only five more minutes till we're there," One of the Pegasus flying the chariot called out.
"What did he say Tori?" Butch, the son of Iris, asked her.
Butch was their other companion on the rescue mission. Butch was a bulky dude with a shaved head and a face like a pile of bricks. The only thing not intimidating about him was his rainbow tattoo on his left arm. He was also the one keeping both girls level headed on the mission.
Butch was the best equestrian, besides Percy and Victoria, at camp. Normally it would be Tori flying and leading the Pegasus, but her heart just wasn't into it, and the winged horses could tell.
"He said we have about five more minutes till we're there," Tori answered.
Tori couldn't help it and started biting her nails. That was until she felt a smack on her hand.
"Quit it, it's a bad habit," Annabeth told the girl who was like her sister.
"Sorry, it's just I'm nervous," Tori said, "I mean it's Hera who sent you the message."
"I know, but what if Percy is there?" Annabeth asked hopefully.
"I don't know Annie, he probably won't be," Tori said and Annabeth frowned. "But hey at least you have hope."
"I do," the blonde said, "Why don't you?"
"Eh, hope just leads to disappointment." Tori said shrugging her shoulders.
Once they reached the Canyon, they all could see the three figures on the sky walk. "Butch, land us where those people are," Annabeth ordered.
Butch did what he was told. Both Tori and Annabeth leaped off before the chariot had even finished stopping. Annabeth pulled out her knife as Tori tugged on her necklace and a sword appeared in her hands. The two ran towards the group while Butch was reining in the horses.
Tori could see that the teenagers were about her age. There was two boys and one girl. One of the boys, the tall blonde one, was standing in front of the other two in a protective stance.
"Where is he?" Annabeth demanded. Her gray eyes were fierce and a little startling.
"Where's who?" The blonde boy asked.
