Tori didn't start to relax till the glow of Quebec City faded behind them.
"You guys were amazing," Jason told her and Piper.
"Uh...thanks." Tori mumbled, not really wanting a complement.
She wasn't trying to be rude, but all she could think about was the trouble ahead. Evil things are stirring, Zethes had warned them. She knew that first hand. The closer they got to the solstice, the more powerful these evil forces get.
"If you knew the truth about me,you wouldn't think I was so amazing." Piper told Jason in French.
"What'd you say?" he asked.
"I said I only talked to Boreas. It wasn't so amazing."
"Liar," Tori said to Piper in French, so the conversation would stay between them.
Piper mentally facepalmed, she totally forgot that Tori understood the language. "Just drop it please."
Tori frowned at the other girl, but didn't press. Though this didn't make her any less suspicious. What truth? What secret was Piper hiding? They were quest companions, she shouldn't be hiding secrets. Sure, Tori had a pretty good idea of what was the main enemy, but she couldn't tell the others for obvious reasons.
Jason cleared his throat and Tori turned around in her seat to face him, "you both saved me from joining Khione's subzero hero collection. I owe you guys."
There was no way Tori would've let that ice witch keep Jason, she has already lost to many friends. Could Tori even call Jason a friend? Boreas had changed form, and that was part of the reason why he'd let them go. It had something to do with Jason's past, those tattoos on his arm. Boreas assumed Jason was some sort of Roman, and Romans didn't mix with Greeks. She kept waiting for Jason to offer an explanation, but he clearly didn't want to talk about it. Until now, Tori was only a little on edge about Jason's feeling that he didn't belong at Camp Half-Blood. Obviously he was a demigod... but what if he was something else? What if he really was an enemy? She couldn't stand that idea any more than she could stand Khione, but she
"No problem, Jason Jr." she shrugged, smirking knowing the blonde boy didn't like the nickname.
"Wasn't I lightning boy?" he asked.
Tori turned back around to hide her blushing cheeks. How did he remember the stupid name she called him at the campfire?
"I like Jason Jr. better," she called over her shoulder, not wanting to meet his eyes.
Leo passed them some sandwiches from his pack. He'd been quiet ever since they'd told him what happened in the throne room. "I still can't believe Khione," he said. "She looked so nice."
"Trust me, man," Jason said. "Snow may be pretty, but up close it's cold and nasty. We'll find you a better prom date."
"I'll be your prom date," Tori offered.
"No thank you" Leo said quickly.
"I'm offended," Tori said, faking sounding hurt.
"Look, Little Mermaid, in total honestly...you kinda scare me," Leo said.
"What?"
"You can control water, talk to horses, and cause earthquakes. Not that really my type."
"So ice goddesses that can freeze you for all eternity, is your type? Tori questioned the curly haired boy.
"Uh...yep, pretty much."
"Wow."
They ate their sandwiches as they flew. Tori had no idea how Leo had stocked up on supplies, but he'd even remembered to bring veggie rations for Piper. The cheese and turkey sandwich she was currently eating, was awesome.
