Chapter 18
KAT'S POV:I had set my alarm for 7:30 the next morning, but seeing that I had only had four hours of sleep, I was a little bit slow getting ready.
I shuffled down to the kitchen, where my mom was preparing her weird breakfast diet shake thing that looks like mud and doesn't taste much better, and plopped down at the ornately carved cherry rose colored table with matching chairs.
"Good morning, Katana. Sleep well?" My mother chirped, being the annoying morning person that she is. Not trying to sound bratty, but I usually am not a morning person, especially if I stay up extremely late watching movies with my best friend.
"I guess so." I said, rubbing my face and running my hands through my unbrushed hair, which was kinda hard with all the tangles.
"You don't look very well rested. Are you up for trying out a church with me?" She asked, sitting across from me, sipping her, um, drink.
"Yeah, I think so. What time does it start?"
"The worship service starts at 10:30, but I would like to get there a little early so that we can meet the pastor and the board members and so on, so please be ready to go at 10:00."
"Sure thing, mom. What is there to eat?"
"You can make whatever you want to. Marcie is coming later, after lunch, so you'll be on your own until then."
Marcie is our chef, you know like all the rich families have. We don't have to whole shebang of nannies, drivers, security guards, fleets of butlers and cooks, but we do have Marcie, our one chef, and Grayson, our one butler.
Marcie and Grayson are husband and wife and have been in my familiy's employment since I was about six, so I grew up with them. They're a middle aged couple, 45 and 48, I'm guessing, and they live in one of the spare rooms on the first floor. Well, they did. I'm not sure what room they're getting at this house, but I'm sure it'll be decorated very prettily, like their last one, because Marcie loves colors and loves to decorate practically anything, from cakes and cookies to walls and floors.
"Thanks mom." I said as she left the kitchen, but she didn't hear me.
I sighed and made my way to the fridge, pulling out an egg, a slice of yellow cheese and the loaf of white bread.
I fried the egg in a skillet, popping the yellow bubble so that is spread out, then placed two pieces of bread on a plate, putting the cheese slice on one of the pieces.
As I waited for the egg to finish cooking, I pulled my iPhone out of my purple pajama shorts pocket- why my pajamas have pockets, I'll never know- and shot a quick text to Stephen, even though I knew he'd sleep until at least 10:30 because his church service didn't start until 11:00. Lucky sprite.
Ugh, im so tired. i dont wanna do that again anytime soon. lol

I took the egg out of the frying pan with a plastic spatula and put it on the other piece of bread, sprinkling a pinch of garlic powder on before putting them together and microwaving it so that the cheese would melt.
When it was done, I took it up to my room, letting it cool off before I practically inhaled the cheesy goodness. What can I say? I love to eat.
I collected my church clothes before taking a shower, closing my eyes at the warmth of the water gushing out of the showerhead.
I finished quickly, blowdrying my hair for five minutes, then braiding it in a slightly messy fishtail braid.
