Chapter 1: A new beginning, a new friend

" *Gasp* Noo!... It...it was only a dream..."
"[Y/N]? Hurry up! You don't want to be late for your first day at your new school!" "...I'm coming.."

I'm [Y/N] [Y/LN]. I'm a normal girl with a normal life. Today is my first day at a new school. I only transferred shortly after summer vacation, so I probably missed a lot school subjects... "I hope this school will be better than.."

"..who'd like you? That wish is impossible.."

"...ah..what am I thinking.... I hope I can make a few friends though..", you said with a smile after changing your clothes and leave your room. "..Today will be alright.."

"Good Morning class. It's the first day after summer vacation. I'll expect total concentration today. Also, we'll be having a new transfer student today. Be nice, okay?", I heard the teacher of the class, I'll be in say. I'm standing outside of the classroom right now. I feel a bit nervous, but I think I can do this. "Yes, Sensei.", I then heard the class say. "I'll get her. Be quiet.", I then heard him say.

I actually...don't think, I can do this...oh god! What do I do?? How should I act?? Do I look okay?? Should I smile?? Wouldn't that seems creepy?? Just then, the door in front of me opened. "You May come in and introduce yourself.", the teacher said. "Y-yes, sensei..!" I stepped into the classroom and slowly walked to the front of the class. "H-hello...I'm [Y/N] [Y/LN]..! It's nice to meet all of you.." "Was that all?" "Yes, sensei..." "Okay then. You may sit down on that seat behind Yashiro-san."

"Yashiro-san..?" "Yashiro-san. please raise your hand for a minute." A girl with silver hair, which slowly fades into a turquoise color and a skull breach on her uniform raised her hand with a smile. I started walking on my way to the seat behind her. But everyone was staring at me while I walked, which made me feel really uncomfortable.. Why are they starring at me? Do I..really look that bad? As I went past Yashiro-san, she waved and smiled at me, which made me blush since no one ever done that before. I awkwardly wave back and then arrive at my desk. I put my bag down and sat down. This is one of those seats that are closest to the windows...it sure is a beautiful day, you thought while looking out of the window.

The bell rang after a while. It was lunch break. I silently took out my bento and tiredly open it. My mother cooked her special omelette with a lot of ketchup hearts. I didn't really payed much attention to that though. I'd silently eat my food until- "Wow, that looks really cute and delicious!" A cute voice spoke to me. I looked up. It was Yashiro-san! "Oh. How rude of me to start off with that..hehe.." She's so nice.. "I'm Yashiro Nene. You can call me Nene-Chan, if you like!" "I-I am [Y/N] [Y/LN], you can call me [Y/N] if you want too!" "Alright then, [Y/N]! Would you like to eat with me and my friend Aoi?" "Eat together?" "Well, I just thought that it must be lonely eating alone.." "I'd be happy, if I could join you..!" "Great! Come with me then." I grabbed my bento and followed Yashiro to a table at the front.

A beautiful girl with blue hair sat there, who was waving at us. "Why hello there. I'm Aoi Akane. It's nice to meet you." "H-hello! I'm.." "There's no need to introduce yourself again. You already did that at the beginning." "R-right.." We talked for a while and started to do that every day ever since.

We have become good friends. I was happy to have finally made real friends, but something was kind of off about Yashiro. Ever since we became friends, we hung out a lot, but Yashiro strangely always says that she has to do something after school. Almost a month has passed and I became more and more curious with every day that passed, until one day, I decided to follow her.

It was on a Thursday. After school, like usually, Yashiro would apologise for not being able to go home with us together. But this time the moment she left the classroom, I also apologised to Aoi for not walking with her home. Even though she did wonder why, Aoi luckily didn't make a fuss out of it. I quickly took my bag and ran after Yashiro.

After a while of following her, she finally went into a room. She didn't notice me..what a relief.. where did she go in? The girls bathroom? How strange. Did she wanted to go to the toilet for a second? I walked slowly and silently closer to take a peek at the inside of the room. But what I next saw...I couldn't have even dreamed of that...

Yashiro was standing there...next to a boy who's legs didn't touch the ground. I stared at them while my body was shaking out of fear. Is that a ghost...? What is Yashiro doing next to a ghost boy..? I think...coming here was a very bad idea...what will I do if they spot me??? I..I got to...I got to get away from here as soon as possible..! A backed away slowly, still staring at them. Yashiro's back was facing me, so I couldn't see her face, but that ghost boy's face was directly behind her...that means.. I can see his face clearly..that scares me... Just at that moment, he suddenly looked at me. I flinched and quickly ran away as fast as I could.

"He didn't see me...right..?"

I just found this great anime 'Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun' and I couldn't get it out of my head ever since, so I wrote this little story!
