Chapter 6: The door in the tree

I stood in position as the rattling from the bush got stronger and swung my hand forward just like last time.

"Eh?" Where is the blade?!

The bush rattling stopped and something or someone came out..

[Y/N]'s POV
It's pretty dark, so I can't exactly see what came out of the bush, but from the little that I see, it doesn't seem to be another monster. In fact, it's... a person?! As this someone stepped out of the bush into the moonlight, I could directly see him. It was a boy, who looks about my age or a bit older maybe. His hair color was a mix of blue, purple and grey. His right eye has a golden color, which almost seemed like it was shining in the light and he was wearing a white, star-shaped eye patch, which covered his left eye. Also, is it just me or doesn't he seem a bit too pale...Is he okay? Or is it because of the moonlight? Wait a second...isn't that guy wearing our school uniform too??

"Oh, so it was only some guy?", Hanako-Kun laughed out in relief. "Kya! He's so cute! Totally my type!", Yashiro afterwards screamed. What a relief! We're safe.. wait.. have I ever seen someone like him around though? I know that I haven't been at this school for that long, but someone that looks like that must be impossible not to notice! "Um..who are you?", I asked. The guy looked at me, at first beaming with happiness, but then shaking his head. His face expression changed from happy to depressed very quickly. I feel somehow insulted. "Um..my name is...Kuho..Kosuke..and you are..?" "A-ah! Right!", I flinched.

"My name is [Y/N] [Y/LN]! Nice to meet you!" "I'm Yashiro Nene! Nice meeting you!" "And I'm Hanako. Surely heard of me, right?" "U-um...yeah?" "So, how'd you get here Kosuke-Kun?", Hanako-Kun asked. "I'm not sure. There was this strange light and when I woke up, I was here." "Really? You must be just as confused as we are! Wanna join us then?", I offered. He must be terrified all alone. We can't just leave him here. "What do you mean by us?" "Oh, come on, Hanako-Kun. Are you seriously gonna count me out?" "Yeah! You can't just leave [Y/N] here! ...and Kosuke-Kun could join us as well!", Yashiro said. "Ugh..fine. Let's search for a way out of here together then.." At least he isn't protesting anymore.

We've been then starting to walk around somewhere here for a little while. Hanako-Kun at the front, nene behind him and me and Kosuke-Kun at the back. "This Place is pretty creepy..", Yashiro said. "Yeah..but the night sky is really pretty. So many stars.", I added. "Say, Kosuke-Kun.." "Yes?" "Aren't you from Kamome high, just like us?" "Yeah.. I am.." "Really? How come, I haven't seen you there at all?" "I came before you here." "Is that so?" So he transferred to this school long before me, huh.. "Hey, guys!" Hanako stopped right there and everyone bump one after another into the person before them.

"What's the big idea??", I yelled. "There's a door in this tree. Do you guys think this may be the exit?" "Well, we don't really have any other options, so we might as well. I'd also like to leave this place as soon as possible, because these pretty stars aren't going to make up for this creepy forest!" "U-um..I don't think this would be such a good idea.." "How come?", Yashiro asked, while slowly walking towards the open door in the tree. "Ah..well..it's because..." Suddenly the bush close to us started rattling a lot. W-what is going on..?" I somehow got scared. This doesn't feel normal.. A huge black dog, who was looking blood-thirsty came running at us with his sharp teeth-filled mouth wide open. "Okay, now we've got no choice!", I yelled and shoved everyone in. "Wait-!", Kosuke-Kun shouted, but as we went in the door immediately closed.

We found ourselves sliding down something, but it was too dark to see anything. I only heard everyone including me screaming until, I've landed on some ground. I opened my eyes and slowly got up. "Woah..." I was in a cave with beautiful crystal growing from the top and a huge glittering sea of water at the bottom. "So..beautiful..." "Agh.." Huh? What was that? I turned around. "Hanako-Kun??" "[Y/N]??" He was right over there. I somehow felt uncomfortable, but right then, I noticed that Yashiro and Kosuke-Kun wasn't there. "Where are Yashiro and Kosuke-Kun?" "Huh? Yashiro?? Where is she???" Guess, he doesn't have a clue either. "[Y/N]! Where have you brought Yashiro and where us??" "This again?? I told you that I have nothing to do with this place! And I have no idea where they or we are!" "Yeah, right.." Seriously! What is his problem? "What do you have against me? I didn't do anything to you!" "..." Silent treatment now? Fine! Have it your way! I've sat down in front of the water sea and also didn't say anything. Hanako-Kun seemed to have sat down a bit farther away from me and is facing the other direction.

We've been just sitting here without saying anything for about half an hour or so and he then suddenly got up. What does he want to do this time? Leave me here? Well, whatever! I'm better off without him anyway. But then he sat down next to me. "Wha..?" "Yes..you're right. It's not you who is at fault. It's me." Huuuh? "I was just angry at myself for being useless and jealous of you, because you could save Yashiro." "You seem to really like Yashiro, don't you?" "Yeah..she's the first friend I ever had and the first to ever like me too." Has he calmed down? "I don't know what I would do without Yashiro, that's why I didn't want to loose her.. I wanted to protect her no matter what, but in this world, I'm as good as useless.. You must hate me too, right?"

I didn't think that he would be feeling like that.. Yashiro really must mean a lot to him than. "I did sometimes think that you were a huge jerk, but I never hated you. In fact, count me in as another one of your friends!" "Really?" "Yeah! I wouldn't mind being friends with you! And you don't seem that bad at all." "Thank you, [Y/N]. I really mean it." Wow. Does he have a second side to him? He seems so nice right now.. "Alright then! I'll take your word for it!" He seemed to be cheered up quickly. I really rather see him smiling. His smile kind of makes me smile too.

Yashiro's POV
"Ouuuuuch...my back! Wherever I landed, this hurts really a lot! ...huh? Where am I? ..Huh?! ..Kosuke-Kun?!"
