Y/N's POV
I sit on the couch in the living room, facing my parents. After my dad had shown up, my friends had left and I'd called Mom and she'd come home. Dad glares at me coldly.
"I told you not to do it." He says calmly. "It was just a video, be reasonable." Mom begins on my behalf. "Why did you do it?" Dad yells at me.
"I didn't do anything you told me not to do, I just posted a cover on Youtube!" I shout back.  "It's not a big deal!" "I told you not to sing for anyone, that includes the entire freaking internet!" Dad yells, standing up. Mom stands as well and glares at him.
"Don't you yell at our daughter just for doing the things she loves." She says angrily, stepping in front of me. "I said that if she wanted to stay she'd better not sing and what did she do? She disobeyed me! I'm taking her home so I can make sure she doesn't disobey me anymore."
"Oh it's not like it effects you, none of your work buddies are hearing from their kids about how the girl in their class is a popular singer anymore, you're not "The Singer Y/N's Dad" anymore! Why do you care?" I cry, knowing this was the only reason he ever cared about my singing. "I care because I told you not to and," He begins but Mom cuts him off.
"Oh so after she left you probably made up some stupid lie to cover up the fact that you won't let her sing anymore to tell your friends right? That's the same thing you did with me when I left and you did it again. And then when she posted the cover a couple of their kids saw it or heard about it and they eventually heard about it from their kids and now you look like a liar." Mom says, sitting beside me on the couch. "That's not what happened!" Dad exclaims but we all know he's just lying again.
"I'm not going home with you Dad, you never cared about me or anything to do with me unless it effected you or your reputation. Mom actually cares about me as a person, I'm staying with her." "The heck you are." Dad takes a step toward us but Mom holds up a hand. "For most of our child's life I didn't know how horible to her you were but now I do and I won't let you take her again." She says, fire in her eyes.
"Get out of my house!" She shouts, pointing a shaking finger at the door. Dad looks from me to Mom and then to the door. "I'm not going to leave this alone." He says as he leaves, the door slamming behind him.
Me and Mom look at each other. "Thanks Mama." I say, moving over to hug her. She hugs me back, stroking my hair. "I love you Babygirl and I'm going to make sure I can keep you." She tells me.
We stay on the couch like that for a while in silence before I ask something I'd always wanted to ask. "Hey Mom? Why did you leave?" Mom sighs a little, looking down. "Well, you know I was very young when I married your father right?" I nod. "You were 18 right?" I ask and she nods.
"Well, it wasn't very long after we got married that I had you. I was fresh out of high school and hadn't gone to colage while your father was 29, had been to colage, had an amazing job and basically looked like a lot better parent than I was." I listen as Mom continues. "I didn't know how to do it, take care of a kid I mean, and your father made me feel even more incompetent than I already did. He was amazing to you when you were little, always seaming like the best dad while treating me like trash and making me feel like I couldn't take care of you. In the end, I felt like you'd be better off without me." She leans back, looking up at the ceiling. "So I left, traveled to Paris to live my life and try to become a better person so that maybe some day you could look at me and be proud that I was your mother."
"You never had to leave, I would have been proud to have you as my mom no matter what." I say, hugging her again. She smiles down at me. "But why did you never come back? I visited you and stuff and you knew I loved you right?" I ask her. "I didn't think I could raise a kid still. You never told me anything about how your father treated you until you came here so I never knew. I just thought he was good to you but terible to me like he'd been when you were a baby." I shake my head. "No, he's aweful all the time."
"I'm so so sorry Baby, I understand if you can't forgive me." I shake my head again. "Mom, I get it, Dad can make you think things about yourself. It's not your fault that he got to you, he'd done it to me when I was little until I'd gotten better at ignoring him. Besides, at least you're here now." I tell her.
"I'm going to do my best to make up for not being there." "You're already doing wonders." I smile and she smiles softly back. A couple minutes later, we hear a knock on the door. "I'll get it." I say, getting up from the couch to open the door.
I open it to see my friends standing there looking nervous. "So ... what happened?" Alya asks. "What did your dad say?" Marinette asks. "Are you staying?" Luka asks, sounding more nervous than any of them. I decide to mess with them a little and look down sadly. They gasp and look at each other then back at me and move to hug me.
"I'm so sorry to tell you all that," I begin, then grin. "You'll be dealing with me for a long time!" They all laugh or let exclimations of relief and annoyence as they hug me. "You scared me!" Marinette cries and Alya laughs, nodding. "Glad you're staying Dude." Nino says. "Yeah I'm glad you're not leaving us Y/N." Adrien says, smiling at me as he wraps an arm around Marinette's waste.
(Wow they move fast.) I think but realize I can't blaim them since I can kind of say the same for me and Luka, though both Luka and I and Marinette and Adrien have been close to getting together for a while so that's probably why we're able to move kind of fast. We all move into my house to hang out for a while. Mom smiles and tells me that she'll be in her room.
Alya has the idea for us to do some karaoke and she invites some of our other classmates. Rose, Juleka, Mylen, Ivan, and a lot of the others. I was a little surprised they'd all came and that all of them were happy I was staying. Nino asks who wants to sing first and everyone looks at me.
"You should sing N/N, you can finally do it without getting in trouble." Marinette says, smiling at me. I smile shyly as I walk toward the karaoke machine, picking up the microphone. I think for a second about what I want to sing before looking at my boyfriend. He looks at me and has seams to have the same idea. He gets up and comes over to me and I tell him what I'm going to sing.
He picks up his guitar and gets ready.  I take a deep breath and prepare to sing in front of people for the first time, like a big croud of people, for the first time in months. Luka begins to play and I sway slightly as I listen, waiting till it's time for me to start singing.
"Play that song,"
"The one that makes me go all night long,"
"The one that makes me think of you, that's all you gotta do."
"Hey Mr. DJ when you gonna spin it,"
"My baby's favorite record,"
"She been waiting for a minute."
"She invited all her friends, and I'm buying all the rounds, and they're all dulled up, DJ please don't let me down."
"When you gonna play that song, now,"
"When you gonna earn that pay,"
"When you gonna play that song,"
"And make my day?"
The others listen to me sing, smiles on their faces. This is what I love about singing, it makes people happy. I keep going, singing through the chorus.
"Play that song,"
"The one that makes me go all night long."
"The one that makes me think of you, that's all you gotta do."
"Hey."
"Play that song,"
"The one that makes me stay out till dawn."
"The one that makes me go "ooh""
"That's all you gotta do."
I keep going, singing through the second verse and through the corus again. I get to the end.
"Play that song,"
"The one that makes her go all night long."
"The one that makes her think of me, that's all you gotta do."
"Hey."
"Play that song,"
"The one that makes me stay out till dawn."
"The one that makes me go "ooh""
"That's all you gotta do."
I finish the song and look at Luka. He smiles at me as the rest of our classmates clap and cheer, all looking at me with these happy expressions on their faces. I loved making people happy with my music.
After that, people kept telling me how good it was and that I should sing more. "Oh I will, since I finally can." I smile happily at my friends. Someone else stands up to try and I head outside. I sit down on the steps and look at the sky.
The door opens behind me and I turn to see my boyfriend. I smile up at him as he sits down next to me. "Hi." "Hi." He responds, those beautiful blue eyes on me. "You sang beautifully." He tells me and I blush a little. "Thanks. I'm glad you played with me, you played amazingly." I tell him.
He leans over and kisses my cheek. "I'm glad you're staying Y/N." He says softly. "Me too." I say, leaning against him and resting my head on his shoulder. "That means I can bug you whenever I want." I say with a smile as he wraps an arm around me.
"And it means we can keep making music together." I feel him nod. "Making music with you always sounds better than making it alone." He says, stroking my hair. "A musical duet." I say, laughing a little. I think about that, liking the sound of it.
(A musical duet.)
