Infinite rays of blinding light were bursting through my window and into my little room. Spots of brown decorated the walls, making the white background not so unbearable. The linoleum tiles glinted in the sunlight, while I sat, swinging my legs, on my bed.
"Ella?"
I perked my head up, happy that someone, finally, had come to my room.
"It's time for your check-up, sweetie. Do you want Eve to get one too?"
I just shrugged my shoulders, now sad that it wasn't an adventure like I had been waiting for.
Unlike most thirteen year olds in this world, I haven't started my journey yet. But that's mostly because I've been in an insane asylum for the past six years.
Why, one might ask.
I'd just reply with a "It's a long story."
And it is.
It started on my seventh birthday, the day I had received Eve from my mother, a world renowned Pokemon coordinator. Eve was still in her egg at the time and I abolutely loved her from the moment I got her. Throughout the day, my parents started to act weirder and weirder, and when we went to watch one of my mom's performances, my dad completely.... changed.
He started acting mean and it had scared me. Luckily, my mom noticed and got us out of there. On our way home was when it happened.
A giant, to a six year old me, Houndoom jumped out of some bushes and attacked my mom. My dad tried to send out his Swampert but he was also attacked.
Two men walked out from the tree line, one wearing an obnoxious pirate outfit and the other in disco red. They were clearly arguing about something. I caught on to a few phrases like, "Now she won't be born" and "We can finally win."
That's when Officer Jenny rode in. The two men ran away and my parents and I were taken to the nearest Pokemon Center.
They didn't make it.
I had been moved to an orphanage, but then I started to experience these weird dreams about the two men. Eve had already hatched and was my only friend at that place. When I started to become violent, they sent me to the asylum.
I've lived here for the past six years, and I haven't seen the outside world, except for through my window and on TV.
A hand slashed across my vision.
"Ella, honey. You're zoning out again."
I looked at the nurse, not a nice Nurse Joy, but a close second, and followed her.
Eve followed close behind.
We went through the regular check ups, like was my blood sugar high or did Eve learn any new moves. We were cleared and stuffed back into our room.
Just a normal day of being me.
Oh well.
