Two Worlds (Tanjiro x reader)

We both ate out food quietly. I guess we were both super hungry, we didn't speak a word since we were too busy eating. Tanjiro was quite overwhelmed by the food choices when we entered the food court. He ended up ordering from the same place as me.

"Thanks a lot for today, (y/n)." I looked up from my food to see Tanjiro smiling at me.

My cheeks heated up instantly.

"Y-y-ou're we-welcome." I stuttered. I cursed at myself mentally for it.

"What else are we going to do today?" He asks. I check my watch and thought about it for a little bit.

"Hmm..it's almost six, we should probably head home now. I have to go to school tomorrow too." We started packing up our food and threw out our trash. We went back to the lockers to grab our bags and headed out into the parking lot.

I got my learners a few months before I turned fifteen and when i passed my road test, my parents bought me a car. It was a used car and a lil old but I loved it nonetheless. 

I stuffed our bags in the back seat and got in the driver's side. Tanjiro got in the passenger seat and I reminded him to put his seatbelt on. On our way to the mall, he was really intrigued about cars and how there were so many of them.

When we got home, I cleared out a few drawers in my room for Tanjiro's clothes and I helped him store them away. I got out my clothes for tomorrow and laid them out on a chair.

"How long are you going to be at school tomorrow?" He asks.

"I used to go for six hours a day but I switched to their out of school program and now I only have to go for two hours for check ins with my teachers and I can work on my stuff at the public library or wherever I want to." I grabbed some shoes from my closet and placed them next to the chair. "You can come, if you want."

"Really?"

"Mmhm. I won't be there for too long and you might get bored here, so why not?"

I woke up at nine in the morning. The space next to me was empty and I freaked out a bit.

'Tanjiro? Where...wait, did he leave?? Was he transferred back to his world????'

My hands started to sweat and my anxiety was through the roof! I started to feel really upset but a moment like this was going to happen anyways so I tried to calm myself down and accept it.

I smelled something burning downstairs and i jumped out of bed and ran down. Tanjiro stood in the middle of the kitchen, smiling sheepishly at me once he noticed my presence.

He had a stack of pancakes, some burnt and some perfect.

"Good morning! I wanted to surprise you with breakfast! Thanks again for teaching me how to make these. I burnt some but that's okay, I'll eat those and you can have the perfect ones."

He was in his new sweatpants and shirt with a stained apron on top. He turned the stove off and took his apron off, hanging it back inside the pantry. I watched him place the pancakes on the dining table.

"(Y/n)?" I snapped out of my trance and ran up to him, bringing him into a hug."(y-y/n)??" I didn't say a word and just kept hugging him. Soon enough, he wrapped his arms around me too. "Are you okay?" I hear him sniff the air. "Why are you sad? (Y/n)? (Y-y/n), you're crying!"

I didn't notice until know that I was crying. My tears made his shirt all wet and gross and I apologized for it. "Sorry.."

"Don't be! Why are you upset?" He wraps his arms around me tighter and rubs my back with his hand.
