Mia's POV.

.

"Hey, cheer up. Here, have some ice cream." Ruby offered and I shook my head, still thinking about Calum and Luke.

She sighed, putting her ice cream down. "What is up with you lately? It's like you're a different-"

"Calum and I had an argument."

Her face turned into a look of sympathy. "Oh. I'm sorry." I just nodded in silence, staring down at my lap.

"Well, what happened?"

"Calum doesn't trust me. I just know it." I bit my lip. My mind was a mess with confusion and doubts. Doubts about our relationship. Sometimes, I really did want Luke to be my boyfriend instead. What was I saying? We were sworn enemies. At least, we thought we were.

"Mia? Are you even listening to me?" Ruby waved her hand in front of my face as I snapped to attention.

"Sorry. I was just...thinking."

"About what?"

"Luke." I blurted. She fell silent and stared at me for a second.

"Why?"

"I don't know." I said truthfully, shrugging.

Ruby nodded. "Do you-do you think you like him?" I stared at her in disbelief.

"Are you kidding? No way! We hate each other."

"Hate's a strong word."

"Yeah, well."

We both frowned down at our laps. My phone buzzed, breaking the silence between us. I saw a text from Calum, telling me to meet him at the park tomorrow. "It's Calum."

"Oh. What's he saying?"

"He wants to see me at the park tomorrow."

"It's a make up date!" She squealed. I raised an eyebrow. She rolled her eyes. "You know, when you go on a date with your boyfriend after you've had an argument to make up for it?" I rolled my eyes and laughed.

"Come on." I stood up and led the way back to her house.

When I came back, Luke was sitting alone on the couch, fiddling with his phone in silence. "Hey."

He looked up at me and rolled his eyes. "Can't you just smile for once? You look better with it." I mumbled.

Luke bit his lip, staring at me. "What? I said a nice thing to you, get over it-"

"You're beautiful." He said. I blushed and looked down.

"You're just-"

"I'm not. Trust me." I saw him swallow hard and stand up as I took his hand and stood up next to him. He smiled a little, looking down at me.

"Thank-"

He leant down and kissed my forehead lightly. He nodded and led me upstairs to his room.
