Chapter 6- Extracurricular

Y/N POV

It was time for one of your favorite classes at beacon, sparring. The thought of fighting against other huntsmen and huntresses got you excited since you want to know everyone's strengths and weaknesses. You were watching Pyrrha right now easily beating Cardin, even when his whole team were going up against her she seemed to take them out without breaking a sweat. Cardin was hunched over clutching his ribs at the moment as Glynda walks up behind him.

Glynda: "And that's the match"

Cardin: "Lucky shot"

Cardin soon collapses on the floor and you can't help but to chuckle lightly at the sight.

Glynda: "Well done Miss Nikos. I'm sure you will have no problem qualifying for the tournament."

Pyrrha: "Thank you, Professor."

Glynda: "Alright. Now i know that's a tough act to follow. but we have time for two more sparring matches. Any volunteers?"

As Glynda looks around the students you can't help but to raise your hand, waving it frantically in hopes of her taking you.

Glynda: "Ms. Belladonna?"

Looking over you can see Blake slam her book down as she stares wide eyed at Glynda.

Glynda: "You've been rather docile for the past few classes. Why don't you-"

Before Glynda could finish her sentence, a silver haired guy sitting behind team RWBY raises his hand.

Mercury: "I'll do it"

Glynda: "Mercury is it? Very well, let's find you a opponent."

You go to raise your hand up but Mercury makes his choice before you were able to.

Mercury: "Actually, i wanna fight...her"

Mercury points at Pyrrha while you pout laying your head on your desk.

Y/N: "I never get to have any fun..."

Sapphire lightly pats you on the back while giving you a warm smile.

Pyrrha: "Me?"

Glynda: "I'm afraid Miss Nikos has just finished the match. I recommend you choose another partner."

Pyrrha: "No, it's fine! I'd be happy to oblige."

Mercury walks down to the arena from the observation area while you quickly move over from your seat over to the other side, standing between Blake and Yang.

Y/N: "I bet 100 Lien that Pyrrha will beat him in less then five minutes"

Yang: "You're crazy! five minutes is way to kind.... make it two minutes!"

Y/N: "Deal!"

You and Yang shake hands on your bet while Blake rolls her eyes at the scene. The spar begins as Mercury if the first one to attack and is knocked down with ease. Recovering quickly, Mercury deflects one of Pyrrha's incoming attacks and begins trading blows with her until she knocks him back with his shield. You watch the fight like a hawk, making sure to take note of every move both of the fighters make.

Y/N: "Seems like Mercury is someone who relies on kicks when it comes to attacks...better keep that in mind."

Yang: "Never took you for the kind of person who studies their opponent."

Y/N: "Well of course, can't risk losing a leg or arm in a battle."

Yang: "You got a good point there, though he doesn't seem that strong. those legs could probably snap like a twig with one good hit."
