Hey everyone! So this is a "what would happen if me and Sally met for the first time?" Story. Hope you all like it! I'll post the second part tomorrow. 🖤❤
Me and my parents are on a trip to California for the L.A County Fair that happens there every year. We've been going ever since I was a baby, and I've always had such fond memories of that place. After driving for hours and hours, we decided we needed a place to stay. So we found the cheapest place we could find: the Hotel Cortez. We walk inside and go up to the desk. As the nice lady with the big glasses was helping my dad get a room, I asked my mom if I could get a drink at the bar. She hands me $20 and tells me to be careful. I walk up the stairs to the bar and sit down on one of the stools. "Well hello, little one," the nice bald woman at the bar began as she leaned against the counter, giving me a nice, warm smile. "What would you like?" "Do you have anything without alcohol in it?"
"I have ginger ale, that alright with you, honey?" "I love ginger ale!" She giggled at my reaction. "I am Liz, and you are?" Liz questioned, sticking her hand out for me to take it. "I'm Rhiannon, like the Fleetwood Mac song." "Beautiful name, darling. Here we are, one ginger ale. This one's on me." Liz whispered, giving me a wink. I say thank you and start to sip my drink. As I am, I notice that a woman at the end of the bar keeps staring at me. She's got frizzy blonde hair, dark makeup, she's wearing a vintage type of dress, fishnet stockings that are torn, a leopard print jacket, and she has a cigarette between her fingers. She kinda looks like a hooker, but somehow, I can tell she's not.
"Hey Liz? Who is she?" I look over at the mysterious woman, and she throws me a wink, which makes me blush and turn my head back over to Liz. "That's Sally. You don't wanna mess with her, honey." I look back over at her again and she was gone. Where'd she go? It was now midnight, and I couldn't sleep at all. My throat felt dry so I went down to the bar to get a drink. "Hey Liz, could I have a ginger ale, please?" "Sure thing, darling. One ginger ale coming right up!" I start fiddling with the coaster on the table until I hear a voice next to me. "Hi." I turn my head and lock eyes with that Sally girl I saw earlier. "H-hi..." "I'm Sally, and you are...?" She sticks her hand out to shake my hand.
Before I can muster up the courage to take her hand, Liz interrupts. "Sal, leave the poor girl alone. Can't you see she's terrified of you?" "Don't worry, babygirl. I don't bite... much." She throws me a wink, which makes me blush yet again. How is this woman making me feel so flustered? "I'm Rhiannon, li-" "Like the Fleetwood Mac song?" "Yeah! Holy crap, you're the first person I've ever met who knows that song!" We both started laughing and we ended up talking till three in the morning. "Oh crap, it's three am?! Man, my parents will kill me if they figure out I'm not in the room. I gotta go, but... it was really nice talking to you, Sally. Could we, maybe talk again tomorrow?" "I would love that, babygirl. Sleep well, okay?" She gives me a tight hug and I can't help but melt into her embrace. Why does she make me feel so safe? "I will. Night, guys." I walk back to my room and lay down and fall asleep with the biggest smile on my face...
It was morning, and me and my parents were leaving to go to the County Fair. We were about to leave when it donned on me. "Oh wait, I'll be right back, I gotta tell Sally bye." "Sally?" My mom questioned to herself. I run up the stairs to find Sally and Liz talking at the bar. I start to tiptoe over to Sally, and I put my finger over my lips to tell Liz to be quiet. I get right up behind Sally and I wrap my arms around her waist, causing her to jump and scream obscenities. "Holy- oh god, Rhiannon... you scared the shit out of me!" She laughs as she hugs me tightly. I hug her back just as tight. "Hey, so me and my parents are leaving right now, but we'll be back in a few hours. So I'll see you guys when I get back, kay? Bye!" I run back down the stairs to my waiting parents. "Who were you talking to?" My mom asked, with a confused expression on her face. "It was my new friend, Sally. I met her last night at the bar when I wanted to get that drink."
"Is she a hooker? Cause I don't want you being around people like her." "Oh no, mom, don't worry. She's not a hooker or anything, she's actually really really nice. She even knew my name was from the Fleetwood Mac song!" I can tell my mom isn't the happiest that I'm hanging with someone like Sally. "Alright, let's go." We exit the building to get to our car when I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I take it out and see there's a message from a number I don't recognize. "Hey babygirl, it's Sally. Be careful when you're out, and I'll miss you like crazy... 😘🖤" I read the message and get the biggest smile on my face. She really cares for me... "What are you smiling at?" My mom asks, trying to take a glimpse at my phone. "Oh, nothing. Just saw a funny picture I have in my phone." I replied, putting my phone back in my pocket. What I really wanted to say was "My new friend just sent me the sweetest message ever..." I couldn't wait till we got back and I could give Sally the biggest and tightest hug ever.
