Emma"I am not a fucking werewolf" I screamed at the door once I knew Jake would be far enough away to hear me.
Well you're not wrong about that Emma
I don't know what terrified more, the voice inside me or the man was holding me hostage. All I wanted to do was go home, to be spending my birthday with my Father, he would joke that I'm getting wrinkles now that I'm 18 and I'd laugh and point out his own wrinkles and he'd argue that they were laugh lines. I missed my Dad so much, it had always just been the two of us, he had this way of making every day special and I loved him for it, sure, he was over protective, not allowing me to leave the house in fear of what might happen but he knew I loved to read and every time he would go into town he would return with 4 new books for me. My heart ached so much, he died trying to protect me and I'd never get the chance to tell him how much I loved him.
I wander around my surroundings, my new home, a small cottage with two bedrooms, ensuites, kitchen, dinning and living room. The place is neat and tidy, decorated in dark, masculine tones, theres a large book case in the living room, full of novels that I've never heard of, no television but there is a stereo, what surprises me the most though is there's no pictures, none at all, Dad and I had pictures all throughout our house. The place just seemed devoid of any emotional attachment. Maybe this is just a guest cottage? Surely no-one actually lives here.
I look over at the two empty plates on the dinning room table, the only clutter in the whole place. I walk to the sink and begin filling it, adding in the dishwashing liquid to create bubbles, I return to the table to collect the plates when I hear the front door swing open and in walks a tall, young blonde woman, hair pulled back into a high ponytail, dressed stylish in a pants suit and carrying 3 big bags, she storms into the cottage but stops abruptly when her eyes meet mine and I see them narrow as she looks me up and down.
"He made you sleep in those grubby pyjamas?" She questions me as she shakes her head, "Seriously, it would have been no trouble to just strip you off and throw a t-shirt over you so we could have had these washed and returned to you this morning, but no, he just lets the girl sleep in filth and I'm betting there's mud on the sheets too. Fuck he's hopeless"
I can't help but stare at her as she's fuming, I feel a little guilty that I've now created work for her, not that I had any choice in the matter. I look down to the bags she's carrying as she places them down on the dinning table.
"I got you some essentials, underwear, toothbrush, hair brush and some clothing, I didn't know what style you'd be into so I got 2 dresses, 3 pairs of shorts, 2 skirts and a few t-shirts, just enough to get you started. If you don't like anything I'll return it and you can tell me what you would want" She explains before catching herself, "Oh, I'm Serena by the way, I'm an assistant to Jake"
I walk over to the bags and peer inside them, the clothing is beautiful, I pull out a dress and hold it up to me, it's simple and casual.
"Thank you for all of this" I say, pulling out more items from the bags, "How did you know my size though?"
"Louisa told me, she said she looked at your tag while you were sleeping this morning, if something's not right though just let me know and I'll exchange it" Serena smiles warmly at me
"Or I could come with you, to town, save you the hassle of just guessing" I suggest, itching to see what town looks like. I've always imagined it would look like one of those long streets you see in the movies where stores are lined up either side and the windows display the newest releases. I wanted to go so badly.
