JakeSebastian knocked on my office door just after 2, he had taken some of the pack with him to explore the house that Emma had been living in, hoping to find out some clues to who this girl is.
"How did you go?" I asked him as he entered my office. Sebastian was probably one of the few people I associated with, in the pack, he could joke around at times but when it came to getting stuff done for the pack he was always serious and we worked well together. As my Beta I'd gotten to know him quite well, his mate Louisa too and their twin boys, Caleb and Caldon.
"It just looks like an ordinary family home, theres photos everywhere of the girl with an older man, I'm assuming he is her Father, I had the boys bring back some things though, looks like Emma kept more journals too so I grabbed those" He says, handing me over the journals, I unlock my drawer and place them with the other one
"Anything else?" I ask him, I need to know if I'm putting my pack in danger by keeping the girl here but I know if I let her leave she will be hunted and killed within hours.
"We picked up a scent for something, searched all over for it but couldn't find the source of where it was coming from. We brought back some items for the girl though, clothing, books, keepsakes, I asked Daniel to drop them off at the cottage" He explains to me
"Thanks for that, I just have a feeling that something is off, she didn't even know she was a wolf, I could smell it on her and she had no idea. Doctor Eaton said Emma came to see her this morning though, the doc took blood and is following up with the hospital for medical reports, we should have those answers back by tomorrow"
"When you say you could smell her what could you smell exactly?" Sebastian asks me, a huge smile forming on his face, he already knows the answer but I still humour him anyway
"I can smell the wolf smell, it is faint which makes me think that her wolf hasn't been around for a while and I could also smell honeydew melons, plus Rayne was pretty hyped about her so I know that she's fated to be my mate" I confess to him. I never wanted a mate, well I did but she's long gone and it seems even the Moon Goddess has given up on the prophecy.
"So what are you planning to do about it?" He asks me in all seriousness. I've had endless conversations with Sebastian and Daniel about the whole mate bond process, they both know my stance on it, although I am happy that they seemed blissful with their own mates, for me, being someone who likes to have control over everything, this seemed like the complete opposite to what I would want in my life.
"I'm not going to do anything, Emma just exists and she will only be here until the full moon, I won't have my future dictated to me by fate" I scowl
"Really? Funny how you were always ready to have your future dictated by fate when the prophecy read that the one who will help us win the war will be the Luna of the pack" Sebastian points out
"Fuck the prophecy, it's been nothing but trouble, Hannah would probably still be here if it hadn't been for that stupid bullshit and her Father would probably still be Alpha of the pack and I'd be Beta" I exclaim, getting pissed off
"Well she couldn't have been Luna to her own Father Jake so the whole thing doesn't really make much sense, it's all a bunch of bullshit that they made us learn at school and Hannah probably just bought into it and convinced you that she was meant to be the prophecy" Sebastian laughs. He's probably right too
