Jake

I stood in the doorway of my sisters living room, going unnoticed as I watched Emma dance with Serena, their backs to me, her hips swaying smoothly in time with the rhythm of the music, her arms stretched out high above her as her hands would flick out softly and her shoulders rolled. My eyes raked down her body, taking in every curve as the melodic sound of her laughter hypnotised me.

***Stop fighting it, the bond is only going to get stronger*** Louisa's voice comes crashing into my head, pulling me from my trace but still I keep my eyes locked on Emma. I know Louisa is right though, I am trying to fight fate, as much as I can but I feel drawn to Emma, like a moth to the flame. If I allow myself to give in, to let destiny run its course am I then giving up on Hannah?

I know the consequences for rejecting your mate are harsh, the Moon Goddess doesn't take kindly to those who go against her. I would be shut out go my own pack, forced to live a life as a rouge, being hunted and Emma, I shudder at the thought of what would become of this sweet girl if I was to reject her but I also don't want to force her to stay here, I heard her tearful plea, under the oak tree, she wants to go home.

I wish I had the answers of what to do, I wish I could just talk to her, I wish she would just look at me again. Just turn around and look at me, I silently plead and to my surprise she does.

"I'm guessing you've come to tell me it's time to go?" She asks me, I can detect the disappointment in her tone, she was having fun.

"I was going to ask if you wanted to take a walk with me" She looks from me to Serena and then back to me before giving me a small nod. We say our goodbyes to the group, Serena and Daniel offer to drop off the boxes of belonging back at my cottage and we make our way outside.

"Thank you for tonight" She says as we pass the pack house, her scent is intoxicating, so sweet as the light wind blows through her hair.

"It was Louisa's idea"

"Oh"

Shit!!! Now she's going to think I didn't want any part of it.

"I mean, I agreed with her, when she ran the idea by me this morning, I wanted to do something for you, to let you know that you are special....I mean, to make you feel like you were welcomed, into our pack" I stammer out, I can feel my heart is racing.

"Well Thank You, Ja...Alpha" She smiles brightly up at me. I want to take her hand, pull her in close to me but instead I just just walk in silence, leading her down to the bench under the oak tree.

"You make me really nervous Emma. I'm always someone who has full control over everything but when I'm around you I lose that control and I'm so scared that I'll say the wrong thing and fuck it all up, like demanding that you refer to me by my title and not my name, I wanted to assert my control but I'm beginning to accept that, when it comes to you, I have no control" I confess to her. I can read it on her face, she registering what I've said but it still confuses her.

"You intimidate me, from the moment that I got here you've threatened me with punishment and yelled at me and now you're telling me that I make you nervous? You?" She laughs and shakes her head, "You're such a arsehole"

Her words resinate through me, this is how she views me? I intimidate her? I'm used to being called an arsehole, I've often heard it be said by the members of our pack, usually when I push them at training and I've never let it get to me before but hearing the words come from her mouth hits me hard.
