chapter 15: first mission

Barry's pov:

Emma has been training for 6 months now. She was ready to go on her first mission. I was very proud of her. Cisco had already showed her what her suit looked like and she had a name. We were at Star Labs in the cortex waiting for an alert to go off. "So Emma, are you ready for your first mission?" Caitlin asks. Emma grins, "yes! I've only been waiting for like 5 years!" She said. Caitlin giggled. It was almost like magic! Within the next 10 minutes a meta alert goes off. "Yes!" Emma squeals and changes into her suit. "This is awesome Cisco! Thank you!" She runs over and hugs him. Cisco smiles, "no problem." He says. "Here's your coordinates. Now go get em." He says and winks at her. She smiles and zooms off.

Emma's pov:

Ok I follow the coordinates and stop in front of this huge dude. He had his back turned to me, "Hey!" I call out. He turns to face me, "who are you?" He asks confusion all over his face. "I am Bolt, and I'm gonna kick your a**." I say. He let's out a deep laugh. "A little girl?" He questions. I nod my head and go to punch him in the face, but he dodges. He grabs me by my arm and tosses me into a near by building. "Are you alright?" I hear Caitlin ask over the comms. "I'm fine." I say getting up and grabbing my ribs. I zoom back up to him. "You'll have to do better than that tin man!" I taunt. He charges at me and I speed out of the way. "You look familiar." He says turning to face me. I don't know how to respond to that... "I'm going to take what they love the most!" He says walking off into the other direction. "Hey! I'm not done with you!" I yell and then run in front of him. I go to hit him and as soon as I make contact he turns to metal! My hand breaks and I grab it in pain. "Bye pipsqueak." He says and starts walking off. I run back to Star Labs holding my hand, "ah, ah... Caitlin." I say walking over towards her. "What happened!?" Mom asks running up to me. "He broke my hand." I say. Caitlin bandages it up. I look over at dad and he's eating Ralph's donuts. "The meta turned to metal." I say. When I hear dad choke behind me. We all turn to look at him. "M...met...metal?" He manages to get out before he coughs. "Yeah. He was a pretty big dude too, he fractured my rib when he threw me. But that'll be ok." I say. Caitlin comes back over and checks my ribs. "That should heal in no time." She says. I smile. "He said I looked familiar, even though half my face was covered." I add. I see mom and dad look at each other with surprise. "That's strange." Mom says, but shes acting weird. "Yeah. He said he was going to take what they love the most... who is they?" I ask. "No idea." Dad says. Then another alert goes off. "Gotta go!" I say and zoom out. As soon as I run up he throws me against the wall again. "Ow." I say, then I see dad zoom up. I stand to my feet and try to fight, but I can't breathe! I gasp for air as I see the meta coming towards me and then I hear dad yell, "hey metal head! Over here!" I see the meta turn towards him and I take the opportunity to run back to Star Labs. I almost collapse but Cisco and Caitlin get me to the med bay.  A few minutes later I hear dad over the comm, "What happened?" Then I hear Caitlin respond, "A punctured lung, 2 broken ribs, and a shattered clavicle." And then I fall asleep. When I wake up I see dad sitting beside my bed. I smile and he notices I'm awake. "Hey kiddo." He says softly and stands up. "I am so sorry! I shouldn't have let you go against him." He apologizes. "Dad. It's fine." I say. When I'm fully healed and Caitlin let's me go I zoom to CCPD. I sneak into the file room to find this guy. "Ah-ha!" I say when I find the file. "Tony Woodward... he was caught by The Flash before." I say out loud. I put the file back and go back to Star Labs. I walk into the speed lab, why wouldn't they tell me they've fought him before. I think for awhile and then dad comes in. "Hey kiddo. Are you ok." He asks and sits beside me. "I'm fine." I respond. "I shouldn't have let you go fight him." He says.
I look over at him, "So how do you know Tony?" I ask. He looks at me with surprise, "How do you know that's his name?" Dad asks. "I checked the police records. It says he was caught by The Flash." I say and shrug my shoulders. He gets an irritated look and raises an eyebrow, "You went through police records?" He asks and folds his arms. "Um... no." I say trying to recover. "Emma! You can't do that. That is private information." He says angrily and stands up. "I know. I just wanted to know more information. You were acting like you didn't know the guy." I say trying not to raise my voice. He let's out a sigh and points his finger at me. "Don't do it again." He says and walks out of the room. "No promises." I say out loud. I pull out my phone and text Hunter
Emma- I had my first mission today.
Hunter- awesome! How'd it go?
Emma- not the best. I got injured and dad had to take care of the meta.
Hunter- well I saw you on tv! That suit is dope!
Emma- I got on tv!? Did they show me get beat up?
Hunter- no
Emma- good. It's embarrassing.
Hunter- it was only your first mission. No need to be embarrassed.
Emma- I know.
Hunter- I gtg. See ya later.
I exit the messages and walk to the Cortex. I see everybody working and just walk out. I zoom to the loft. When I walk in and get greeted by  Buddy. "Hi Buddy!" I say excitedly and pick him up. I walk over to the couch with him in my arms. I sit down and he jumps away. "Fine then." I say and pull out my phone. "Hey Emma." I hear Ethan from behind me. "You got on the news today!" He says and jumps over the back of the couch to sit beside me. "Hunter told me. What did they say?" I ask. He hands me his phone with a video clip pulled up. I take his phone and press play. "Who is Central City's newest speedster? Stay tuned to find out." The news reporter says. It cuts off and then back on. "I'm Patricia Wilson, as you all know a new speedster has been seen today around Central City.  Are they a threat or are they assisting our very own Scarlet Speedster?" She says. "The second one." I say and Ethan laughs. The clip goes on for about 3 minutes and then it shuts off. "Awesome!" I say, "what's awesome?" I hear Grayson ask from behind us. "Emma got on the news!" Ethan responds excitedly. Grayson smiles and holds up his hand for a fist bump. "Nice one." He says. I fist bump him and smile. He walks around the couch and sits beside me. We sit around and play with Buddy for the rest of the day.
