chapter six
don't go outside!trigger warning!
mentions of abuseMILES AWOKE to y/n staring blankly up at the ceiling.
her face was drained of all color.
her eyes wide and empty.
"good morning" he yawned snuggling closer to her.
though he did not hear a response.
any and all words were caught deep within her throat, she could not speak.
she would not speak.
"what's wrong, more nightmares?" he asked, he sat up.
"you have to talk to me if you want me to help" miles sighed, he frowned as she still kept her mouth shut.
"please" he grabbed her hand and massaged it gently.
finally she faced him, her mouth opening though when the door burst open she shut her mouth as quick as she opened it.
"miles!" flora sobbed jumping on the bed and holding onto her brother as if her life depended on it.
"woah slow down, what's wrong?" his mind spun with all the commotion that was occurring so early in the morning.
"It's horrible, she's gone! she's gone!" flora choked out.
tears soaked though miles' pale blue t-shirt.
"what? who's gone?" mrs grose walked through the doorway.
"jessel, i think she left late last night. the door was left ajar. everything about her is gone. including her car, makeup, clothes, god even her mug" mrs grose sighed.
"are you sure? that's very unlike her." miles sat puzzled with his distressed sister in his arms.
y/n sat on the bed, her eyes spilling with tears though she was mute.
"well i am not positive, perhaps you should go speak to quint. maybe he knows more about the situation. I'll stay here with flora, come child, i have hot chocolate on the stove." mrs grose held out her hand for little flora to hold, the two went out of the room and to the kitchen.
miles sighed, running his fingers through his wild curls.
"you comin'?" he turned to face y/n, she nodded slipping on her slippers.
y/n's stomach lurched as the two walked through the field.
quint had not been in his room, nor had he been in the house at all.
the next most likely place would be the stables, so that is where the pair were headed.
neither had time to change out of the urgency of the situation.
y/n still had one of miles' pale yellow t-shirts on.
aneurysm and nirvana were written next to a disfigured body on the borrowed shirt.
shorts provided her no warmth, her skin was covered in goosebumps as she held herself.
though the goosebumps were not solely there because of the cold, fear pounded throughout her body with each step they took.
dew covered the shimmering blades of grass.
the sky was grey, clouds covering the sun.
it was evident of the season change.
