chapter 7
something in the way

Y/N SAT in the bath tub, her knees drawn to her chest, hugging herself closely. she lay her head gently atop her knees. once they had come to tell mrs. grose the news she rushed out to take care of everything, y/n was slightly confused to why she wouldn't call the police straight away, though she didn't question anything. thankfully flora was taking her afternoon nap, missing the gruesome scene that was miles and y/n caked in blood.

the water around her had become less transparent, turning a muddy reddish color. her cheek was stained with what seemed like a permanent red. the thought of miles hitting her than breaking down over a dead corpse had not left her mind. at that moment she hated miles, never wanting to see him again. but she needed miles, desperately, unable to live without him and loving him so much she didn't care what he did. her mind was split into two. the right and the wrong.

tears dripped silently down her face, she showed no emotion, her eyes a big blank sphere. she knew sulking in a dirty tub would never mend her fearful heart, though she wished it did. instead she rose from the tub, water dripping from her body as she got out. drying herself with a white towel. she stared at herself for a long time in the mirror, but she no longer saw herself. she saw a corpse staring back at her. of course it was y/n in the mirror, though the poor girl had deep purple bags under her eyes, her skin lost of all color except for the bright red on her cheek. she called this her corpse seeing how she couldn't handle thinking this is how she actually looked currently.

perhaps she was in shock, her brain not thinking clearly from the past few events occurring. yes seeing things, she convinced herself, because the longer she looked in the mirror the more and more the features of the corpse had changed. instead of resembling y/n they had begun to become more masculine. she realised that she was seeing quint in her reflection. at first she could not move when quint waved at her from the mirror, but as he slowly became deformed and began to rot she felt her stomach do flips. he smiled, yet when he did all his teeth fell from his mouth. his eyeball hung out of it's socket and his brain began to spill over his head. he happily waved at the frightened child.

she gasped for air, panicking at the view she had, gripping onto her chest. attempting to scream but her voice was no longer in her throat. she rushed to the toilet vomiting last night's tomato basil soup.

she sat on the tile looking up at the mirror and finding nothing but the reflection of the bathroom. she held her head in her hands crying, her body trembling with so much fear.

just seeing things.
