We've barely left Earth's atmosphere when we run into our first problem. Apparently, Dick had forgotten to inform the Justice League that we were doing this so they sent Martian Manhunter to find out what we were up to.
He phases right through the windshield of the ship and lands in front of us, "Why have you left Earth?"
I stand up, "If you read my mind you'll get your answer."
His red eyes lock onto my golden ones. I feel a strange presence in my mind but I don't resist and allow him to read my mind. "I see," he finally says, "I'll permit you to continue this mission but next time you must inform the League."
"We understand. Sorry, sir," I reply.
He nods again and once more phases out of the ship. I turn to Dick, "Really Nightwing? Why didn't you tell them?"
"I didn't think I needed to," He replies, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
M'gann stares at him, "Seriously?! We're going on a mission to the moon and you thought we didn't need to tell our superiors?!"
"Hey, you could have said something," Dick counters. The two continue to bicker until back and forth.
Finally I stomp my foot hard and yell, "Enough! It's over and it's not worth fighting about! Let's go get Auburn."
I strap myself back in and M'gann returns her attention to the controls. As we approach the moon I see what looks like a wind storm. I tap Flare on the shoulder and point to it, "It that Ventus' work?"
She looks where I'm pointing. "Yes! Only Ventus can do something like that!" she exclaims.
Her cry of delight attracts Aquario's and Gia's attention. They look out the window as well and Gia's face pales from dark forest green to a lima bean color. "Oh no," she murmurs, "Ventus has turned his entire body into wind to provide oxygen for Auburn. We have to hurry!"
"M'gann! Try and land us near that storm!" I call over to her.
She nods and takes the ship down. Once we've landed we move to her ship's airlock and put on our spacesuits. Once we exit the ship I try to run towards the storm but the lack of gravity throws me off balance and I fall over. I never hit the ground though. Tim catches the back of my suit and pulls me upright. "Careful, you aren't used to the low gravity yet," he cautions.
I'm glad he can't see my face that well through the suit's helmet as I blush in embarrassment and mumble, "Sorry."
He nods and turns to the other Avians, "Can you get us through that storm?"
Tempest nods, "Ventus will recognize us so he should let us through."
"What if we're with you?" asks a voice.
Everyone looks up to see Superman and the Green Lantern hovering just above us. The land next to our group and look over at the other Avians. Aquario glances at me in confusion. I nod and give him a thumbs up as best I can with the suit, "It's fine, Aquario, they're friends."
He nods and looks over at the two heros, "As long as you're with us he should let you through."
The two nod but then shift their attention to Dick as he asks, "Why are you here? I mean, it's not that we're not grateful I'm just curious."
"I figured gravity would be an issue so I came to help with that," Green Lantern explains.
"And I came in hopes of getting information," Superman adds, "From what research the League has done, I've learned that Eagle's home planet wasn't far from Krypton. I was hoping the person we're saving knows more."
