Alexandria's POV

He helped me out of the vehicle and told the driver to take my stuff to his room. The guy was gone before I had a chance to take in the scenery. It was a huge manor. I swore it was the same size as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, maybe even bigger, and every part of it screamed grand. The grounds were also sprawling. In the distance there were tennis courts, a pool, and very far off was even a golf course. Everything past that was woods.

There was a man in casual clothes that came up to us quickly. I don't think he even saw me past Xander, as they greeted each other with hugs, smiles, and hefty pats on the back. "Brother! Coming home for so long on such short notice! I'm not fired am I?" There were more smiles and laughter. He looked a lot like Xander. They were almost twins, but his brother was blond. When I watched them side by side I could easily see he was noticeably larger than Xavier. They both shared a laugh.

"Is that girl I smell on you Xander? You old dog!" He coughs and steps back, and Xavier notices me for the first time. "Oh, excuse me. I didn't realize I was in the company of a lady. Please forgive my rudeness." He gave me a stunning smile and a wink. He had the same blue eyes, and he was every bit as handsome as Xander. "Xander don't be rude introduce your brother to the pretty girl." He waves in his general direction.

Xander growls, and Xavier snaps his attention back to his brother. "She's my secretary.""You wouldn't begrudge me a secretary when you have so many would you?"

Xander growled again more viciously then before, and took the step forward again shielding me. "How about you go mind your mate, and I will mind mine." He snarled at him.

"You know that's still too soon, and I didn't know! I am the one you don't have to worry about." He sounded hurt. Xander is blocking my view, but I know that not the way I wanted this trip to start out.

"Don't be so ridiculous!" I pushed him to the side with all my effort, but he didn't budge. I just stepped around him instead. If he had a mate what was Xander worried about? I walked over to him and stuck out my hand, "Hi I'm Alex! It's a pleasure to meet you." He got a big smile from me. This was his family after all.

Xavier took my hand and shook it back giggling, "Ooooohh, I like her already Xander! She's a pistol, best to keep her on a short leash here." Xander growls again.

"Stop that. It's no way for me to get welcomed in." I pull his arm, "Come on show me everything you told me about on the way here."

Xavier laughed hysterically for a second. "Does this mean she is here for the mating ritual?" His eyes glazed over with the same kind of grey cloudiness I had seen on Xander before, but on him it scared me. I was glad I was holding onto him. "I told you not to look any of the males in the eye."

Xander snarled in response, "She's my mate, I have been nice enough to leave yours alone." Xavier growled then too. I could feel the tension, it made it hard to breathe.

Then his eyes cleared, and he snapped back as if from before, "Well that's true enough. Guess I should find a different way to tease my brother then." He slapped him on the shoulder, "Come on let's go tell everyone else that should do the trick." He burst out laughing again. Xander growled at him again but walked forward with him into the house, allowing me to keep my hold on his arm, which I was grateful for. I didn't know what to make of Xavier. He was a hard read. Was this all because of the ritual? Thinking about it, I kind of wished I didn't know. I blushed heavily and kept my eyes down this time. I couldn't help the flash of memory I had from his most recent bite. The one of the ritual, and the way he felt inside of me. I was burning up just from the image. "Later Alexandria! Not NOW!" I swallowed down the image as best I could, but how often was that going to get brought up exactly?
