Xander's POVI heard her call me, the connection was strong enough that I could hear the tremble of fear to it. I was already running out the hall and towards my suite. My large steps covered a great distance, and I took the stairs four at a time. I could feel the pull in that direction. "Xach knows!" This time I didn't even need to hear her voice in my head it's as if I was seeing through her eyes. It helped to know exactly where he was in the room, and he needed silenced immediately.
I would silence him permanently after this! He taunted me the other day fully knowing I had taken liberties with her. He was looking for a chance to expose me and he was using her to do it. This way my own mate would be tormented with believing she was the cause of my undoing, because I could feel those emotions in her as I saw him through her eyes.
I could hear others coming up behind me responding to my sense of urgency. I threw the door open and had hands on him. I was going to rip out his fucking tongue. I shoved one hand into his mouth and was already yanking it out of his mouth while wretching his body out the door. I threw him to the floor with full force separating it from his mouth. There were other shifters in the hall, and I tossed his tongue onto the floor in front of him.
"You have as long as it takes me to calm her to get a head start." His eyes were saucers and he was dripping blood everywhere. He made a ganging sound and stood up running full speed out of the house. The first wolf I saw I barked orders at, "Alpha's orders all shifters out of wolf form now, any foolish enough to stay will share his fate." The group erupted in alarm and chatter.
I turned back on heal rushing to Alexandria. She hadn't moved at all. It was like she was frozen in terror, and it only confirmed it more for me that I was going to rip him to pieces. My hands were already on fire with the urge to be the hunter I was bred to be. The smell of Xach's blood already tugging my venomous nature.
I shook it focusing on her, "Are you okay?" I said glancing over her looking for any signs of injury. I saw where the collar of her shirt was ripped revealing the bite mark. He knew what he was looking for. He must have seen it the night before. She looked at me like an injured child who no longer felt safe. Her tear streaked face cut into me like a samurai sword. It only fueled the fires of vengeance burning within. She barely nodded in response, and it broke something deep inside to see her so distraught.
I did the only thing I could think of in the moment, using the soothing trick to calm her. I knew it wasn't the best solution, but it was a temporary fix to a temporary problem. I did my best to quiet her inner turmoil while mine raged out of control, before getting back to the real danger at large now. "I have to go finish dealing with this situation." I don't even think the words had registered in her ears before I was gone from the room.
The hallway was even more crowded with shifters. Most were gossiping amongst each other trying to figure out exactly what had happened. I was never going to give anyone a formal answer, and luckily I didn't have to. Shoving Xach out of my suite with my mate in it was enough evidence for any shifter.
"Xander! Don't kill him! He didn't hurt me." She stated it like a prayer. It was barely audible, but I didn't want the situation result in any more guilt on her part. She was dealing with enough, thinking this would cost me everything. Just this time a half truth would be the best answer.
"I'm just running him off and making sure he never returns. I'll be back as soon as possible." It wasn't an outright lie at least. I was already out of the room and in the hallway, the stairs I flew down in a blur. As soon as I hit fresh air, two legs became four in an instant. My clothes shredded off me in tatters with my transformation. My legs were carrying me faster then I had ever been carried before. I could easily follow his scent trail as it was littered with blood. He had shifted too, trying to cover more distance.
