Xavier's POV

Xenobia was asleep in the passenger seat. She was able to rest after I used the bond to soothe her. I didn't like the idea of showing up with her. It would cause too many questions. Questions I wasn't ready to answer.

Hell, I wasn't even ready to be in human form. I still craved the feral nature of the beast more. I didn't have to feel then, and I was still drowning in the emotions caused by the mating bond. There was a part of me that hated Xenobia, but the part of me that wanted to hate her was larger.

I knew now she rejected me because I was a half breed. I could see her disgust at having me as a mate. She tried to be with any wolf with a rank that would have her. Most of the time she was good for a night, but no one in the pack would risk more than that with the Beta's mate. If I had known how this would playout, I wouldn't have bit her. I would have rather lived on not knowing for sure but seeing it through her eyes was the ultimate betrayal.

Yet somehow when I was needed, it was her who came for me. She knew exactly how and where to find me. It was her wolf that called me back and pulled me out. In wolf form the mind link allowed me to shuffle through her thoughts. I found so much regret and pain. There was even more longing. Xenobia just wanted to be important because she wanted to be seen as someone who made a difference. As an only child the bar was set high for her by her father, the pack's old Beta under Xerxes.

When I bit her she was washed over with a fresh wave of my emotions too, and I could tell she was also struggling. Despite everything that had happened though she came to me, not once but twice. She begged for me, and then was overrun with her own emotions before I went and made it worse. Even after I just walked out on her yesterday, she was back here today. She knew I would never abandon my pack, and she wanted to right that wrong. I didn't know what to do with her at the moment. Only time would tell.

When we arrived at the pack house it was dark outside. Surprisingly no one was out front waiting. I carried her in and put her in my bed. At least I knew she would be safe there. I went to Xander's room next. After one knock I heard Xander's booming response which was more of a snarl, "Come in."

I could tell by the look of shock on his face that I was the last person he was expecting to walk through the door. They were both standing and pacing in front of the fireplace. "XAVIER! Oh, thank the Moon Goddess!" Xerxes said.

"We have a lot of catching up to do!" Xander replied. His expression was grim, and I was sure he was hinting at what had happened with Xenobia.

I threw my hands in the air, "I swear I didn't mean to bite her."

"What?" Xerxes said clearly confused and perplexed, and Xander looked equally puzzled. If they didn't know about Xenobia, what the hell were they talking about?

"Bit who, and why is you biting someone even relevant right now? I just had to have the pack elect a new Gamma, because I have no idea about who are even good choices for things like that. I have been out of the loop for so long." I felt the weight of his words as the reality of what they were talking about hit me.

"What the fuck happened to Xach?" I demanded, because next on my list of things to do was to rip off his head.

"Who the FUCK DID YOU BITE?" Xerxes demanded. All of us struggling for our own delectable bit of the half conversations we were carrying on.

"You need to sit down!" Xander and I said it at the same time, his was to me, and mine to my father. We all looked around just exchanging glances, trying to figure out who's news was worse. We all sat down. "Okay tell me what your emergency is first, because I think mine can wait."
