Once they all got their ice cream, Celeste, Fleur and Magnolia sat in one side of a booth. Ben, Crybaby and Angelita sat in the other side. Crybaby sat in between them. "So, how's the new school?" Crybaby asked everyone. Overlapped chatter started as they shared how they liked the new school, all positive experiences.
"I don't like it," Ben said, causing everyone to look at him baffled. "Nah, I'm kidding, it's great," He smiled. They all laughed and joked. Crybaby swiftly took a bit of ice cream from the Styrofoam sundae bowl she was sharing with Ben. As the conversation continued, Angelita kept noticing Crybaby and Ben sharing the bowl. At some point she couldn't stay quiet anymore. "Crybaby, can I ask you something?" she said.
"Yeah, what's up?" Crybaby looked at her.
"Not here," Angelita pointed to an empty corner of the shop, "Over there or something," she said.
"Okay," Crybaby nodded. Her stomach turned they both stood up and started walking away. The rest of the group watched them for a few seconds before resuming their conversations. When Crybaby and Angelita were far enough from the table, Angelita asked, "Why are you and Ben sharing a bowl?"
Crybaby hesitated to answer, "I told him I wanted a Brownie Cone, and he ordered the brownie sundae so we could share it. No big deal, right?"
"Well... It's Ben."
"Okay? He is one of us. He's my friend and you can't be upset whenever we interact. That's like me being upset when you talk to Magnolia or something."
"Can you blame me? He likes you and you used to like him. What if you still do?" Angelita's eyes saddened.
"Lita," Crybaby furrowed her eyebrows, "Don't say that. You know that's not me. Infidelity would never even cross my mind."
"You promise?"
Crybaby felt torn. But is it considered infidelity if the two aren't together?
"I promise."
