He started by fixing his tie. Something simple, to get the muscles in his hands and arms feeling alive again. Blowing up that building was a mistake. He took one last glance at the mirror hoping nothing else was crooked.
"Sir, I do believe they are ready for you."
"I know they are ready for me, the question is, am I ready for them."
"Oh, is this about-"
"Shush! Don't say their names."
Another knock sounded at the door. He took a deep breath in, this was getting tiring.
"Sir, they're growing impatient."
He sighed, turning to the door.
"Well," he chuckled, "let's start the party."
Stepping through the double doors, he surveyed his surroundings. Chaos. Controlled chaos, but chaos nonetheless. Apparently all that standing around talking and doing nothing, caused quite a problem. At least he was calmer now. Waltzing into a party dripping with sweat isn't the classiest thing in the world. Over in the corner he spied three people, one girl and two men. Unfortunately, exactly who he needed to see. The only problem was, they didn't quite know he was alive. That explosion really screwed him over. Turning his head away he moved to make his way down the stairs. But not before he turned to Arnold.
"Who exactly do they think is hosting this party?"
"Just Conrad and I sir. They believe it is our way of saying goodbye to you."
"Well," he snorted, "It's a horrible way to say goodbye, even if it is a party."
Arnold looked scandalized.
"I'm joking."
"Oh."
Rolling his eyes he made his way down the stairs. Over to them, to what was most likely to be his untimely demise. But hey, who cares. Weaving in and out, he finally made it over to them. It took a while but they finally noticed him. The girl, much to his dismay, spoke first.
"Oh, you're still alive." She casted a disgusted look at him.
Raising an eyebrow, he replied somewhat cockily,
"Don't sound too disappointed, I might think you don't like me."
Glaring at the two the eldest of the men spoke,
"How are you still alive?"
He looked down at his shaking hands before looking at him.
"I honestly don't know. One minute I was in the building, the next I was in this bland, colorless room. It was quite strange."
He looked at the older man as he thought he might have an explanation. Contrary to popular belief though, he did. Though it was something he made all of them swear to never repeat. So they did. But when he began to speak, he never got the chance. Why? No one knows. And no one ever got to find out.
An update, yay!
