Your POV (1st Person)

I hefted myself up from the dangling position I was in and managed to get my footing on the slim line that was Gon's window ceil. It was like clockwork, having snuck into his room so many times before. I lightly knocked on his window hoping he would hear. It always spooked him whenever I let myself in. I silently heave out a small sigh, seeing his room was blinded by curtains I had asked him to get rid of so I know who's going to open the window.

I heard the soft click on the lock being undone, fingers wrapped around the window and lifted it up. Instead of getting the warm nice eyes that Gon possessed I came in contact with cold and judgemental eyes that were only shown toward me. Aunt Mito.

"Go," She stated plainly, which I just rolled my eyes to, shoving past her into Gon's room. "He doesn't want to see you, y'know," She shamelessly lied, as if on queue Gon pounced on me with a hug, almost tackling.

"N/N~!" Gon yelled my nickname happily.

"Doesn't want to see me, huh?" I mumble to Aunt Mito as Gon detached himself from me.

"As I was saying," Mito began, eyes immediately becoming kinder to Gon, I'm glad she doesn't treat him like she treats me, "Gon I really think you shouldn't take the hunter exam this year, maybe wait a couple of more years."

"You wanna take the exam?!" I exclaim, mixed feelings on the topic but mostly happy.

Completely forgetting about Mito's words of disapproval he turned to me, eyes shining brightly and a wide smile slating his face, nodded. His confidence gave me confidence. I've met hunters who's told stories about their trials and tribulations through the hunter exam and I think Gon can take it. It pains me that I won't be able to protect him as much as I'd like to but if he's gonna be a hunter he's gonna have to make it without my protection... To a degree.

"I think he's ready," I say honestly after thinking about it.

"You really think so Y/N-San?!" Gon excitedly asks looking up at me as I just return with a small smile and a nod.

Aunt Mito sighs and accepts the defeat that my opinion on whether or not Gon's ready for the hunter exam trumps hers.

Timeskip

Todays the day that Gon and I are going to the hunter exam, we both trained hard leading up to it and I would be lying if I said I was excited to a degree. We glared at eachother when we both saw the boat first come into view, reading one anothers minds almost. We exchange a smirk and break out running towards the boat, having a race on who can there first. I could feel the wind pushing against my face, lifting my cloak up.

(What your're wearing, if you're a person uncomfortable in crop-tops you can imagine it in a shirt!)

Whale Island visitors looked at us strangely since we were both going at ridiculous speeds but the few natives are all too well versed in our races. I felt pride build up inside of me for Gon, him being able to keep up with the speed I was going at, which was pretty fast.

Gon trips over a barrel insuring my win, I stop running and glide across the pavement, kicking up dust particles and placing my hand on the front of the ship. Aching pain flows through my legs but it wad nothing unbearable. Gon defeatedly walks towards me.

"You always beat me Y/N," He mumbles.

"You did great Gon, you would've beat any average person in a race," I boastfully chuckle out before going up the incline that led to the boat.

"I can't believe we're really about to take the hunter exam! I'm so excited! I wonder what kind of people will be there?" Gon ponders out loud, putting a small smirk on my face that quickly went away.

"Strong people, Gon, be watchful. I won't be there to watch your every move. I need my liscence too!" I say the last part to try and maintain the less serious tone, although Gon is my main priority, as always.

"I understand, Y/n," He says wearily, making a note of my words, like he does with most of the things that I say.

He walks up to the head of the ship, scanning the crowd, probably looking for Aunt Mito. I make my way over to him but I lean my back against the banister of the ship, turning my back to the people waving to the ship, but deciding to observe the people on the ship instead. I don't sense a single released Nen presence amongst any of them, so it seems the competition hasn't started yet, but I'm sure this boat ride has somehow tie in the the exam. No way the hunter association would pass up doing some sort of test with a boat full of applicants when none of them expect it.

"BYE MITO-SANN~" Gon bellows out in his loud fairly high pitched voice, snapping me out of my overthinking.

I turn my head to the side and out the corner of my eye I see we're a good distance away from the island at this point as Gon has finally put his hand down and takes a sigh of content, I can see his gears churning, obviously deep in thought so I decide not to say anything. Another scan around the crowd and I shudder with Gon noticing.

"Whats wrong Y/N-San?"

"I'm the only girl on this ship.."
