A/N: Thank you for your patience we know introduce our boy Killua :3

"Go inside, order the Chef's Special and show them this card, then follow the worker," The Kiriko, aka the beast that gave us a ride, instructed, handing us these purple cards. "You can get rid of the card after that."

"Uh, got it," I respond to his directions.

"Thank you for the ride!!" Gon beams at the two Kiriko that can transform, I smile and mumble my own thank you to them. Leorio and Kurapika do as well.

We walk in, ask for the special and show them our cards. A worker sighs and leads us to an elevator that turns out to look more like a waiting room than anything. I plop down in a loveseat, one of my legs hanging on the arm rest with my elbow propping up my head on the other.

"You get comfortable quickly," Leorio quips. I don't take the energy to reply to him, which only gets him more upset.

I zone out looking at a painting on the the wall along with the array of books on two shelves. I begin to wonder how long we'll be in this elevator for if they gave us books to read or maybe they're purely for show.

"Y/n.. Y/n!" Leorio yells, finally grasping my attention. "Are you doing the hunter exam for the money or for the adventure? We asked Gon the same thing while you were in lala land."

My first thought was adventure, being purely disinterested in the money being a hunter can give me although it is one hell of a plus. Nonetheless there are other things that I want to do by being a hunter and adventure is not at #1. I bite my lip debating what to say, the question obviously sprang up from an argument Kurapika and Leorio had and I don't want either party to look at me differently or worst yet use my words and choice against me in the future.

My overthing led me to just shake my head, refusing to answer and returning my gaze to the bookshelf. In my peripheral I see Gon thinking hard, but without any smoke springing out of his ears, Gon probably didn't answer the question either although I don't exactly know his reasons.

The elevator finally chimes with the doors opening, a small room with a door that obviously leads somewhere else is revealed. A large desk with numbered pins had 4 left, for everyone currently in this room along with a sign reading 'Take a Pin!' Are we the last one's to arrive?

I take a pin and hook it onto the inside on my cloak, these numbers are undoubtedly be used against us somehow, it's a big red flag that might as well read your name. Kurapika sees me do this and clips his to his undershirt, good idea but sadly he takes off his training suit (A/N: Thats what Kurapika's blue and red overshirt is called if you didn't know) quickly once he builds up a sweat or gets ready to fight, etc. So I doubt that advantage will last that long

Leorio opens the door for me and the group and all eyes land on us as we walk in. I immediately sense two powerful nen pools. My eyes immediately gravitate towards the one thats closer to me but still a good distance aeay, a pale, red haired guy in odd clothing who was already staring at me and looked down, smirking once I caught him, the second was a man was on the opposite side of the large room, needles sticked all in and around his face and body was also looking at me, looking away with loud, shaky movement once I returned the glare.

I lean down to Gon's level, me being a few inches taller than him and whispered for him to stay away from the guy with needles and the guy with red hair and weird clothes. He trusts me enough not to question why, simply nodding in response.

"Uh hey!" A tanned overweight man caught our attention. "I'm Tonpa!"

The name immediately rang a bell, plenty of people I've met who have already taken the hunter exam have ran into this guy. The Rookie Hunter they call him, always attacking the 1st timers.

He starts a rant on all the natives who have taken the test multiple times leading up to this point that I only half pay attention to.

Once he's done I chime in, "Red hair and needles, whats their deal?" I ask, not caring to be polite to him.

As if on command someone screamed in agony in the direction where I last the clown looking guy.

"Maybe now you won't bump into me," He slyly states, the crowd thins out and gives me and the group a clear viewing of a guy with both of his arms cut clean off. Scary.

"That's Hisoka, this is his 2nd year taking the exam. The first year he didn't get his liscence because he harmed an examiner," Tonpa answered. "I don't know about needles, it must be his first year taking the exam."

I hum in response, sinking in the information.

"Anywho! Who wants a drink?" He handed us all cans of some juice with an evil little smirk.

I opened the can and started pouring the contents onto his head.

"Here's to all the people who could've done great things with a hunter's liscence that you've held back, scumbag," I tell him, throwing the can in his general direction and leaving, stuffing my hands into my pockets. The others take that as a warning to not drink the juice.

"What was that about?" Gon asks, Kurapika and Leorio mumble 'yeah' also being curious to why I dumped the drink on Tonpa's head.

"He's Tonpa, otherwise known as the Rookie Hunter. He purposely doesn't get his liscence just to torment the first timers. That juice probably was spiked with laxatives," I answer.

"How do you know all that?" Leorio asks.

"I know people who have taken the exam before."

I sigh and scan the crowd of people again. I see a boy with white hair who looked my age minding his own business. He held a skateboard in one hand and had his opposite hand stuffed into the pockets of his shorts. He made me curious.

"Gon, I trust you know how to breathe without me by your side so I'm gonna go talk to some people," I joke before walking to the kid with white hair, trying to think of something to spike conversation. Did I overthink like this when I first met Kurapika?

"Nice skateboard. I'm sure it'll help you with the exam at some point," I smile at him, getting his attention. "I'm Y/n by the way."

He hesitated to start talking to me, glancing at me like I'm some foreign object.

"K-Killua," He responds with his name. "I think your name is cool by the way."

"Yours too."
