Chapter 8- Hisoka × Is × Crazy

It became a competition between me and Killua to see who can continue talking the longest while keeping up with Satotz all while learning more about each other. Turns out He's from the Zoldyck family which doesn't really faze me, considering not only have I met assassins but there have been situations where they have been more loyal to me than a certified hunter. So I had no problem trusting Killua. In return to him telling me about his family ties I tell him about me and Gon's daddy issues. One thing led to the next and now we're talking about our favorite food. This conversation has plummeted in seriousness by a long shot. Thinking about it, I hope I didn't make him uncomfortable talking about my issues.

The sound of a wall falling down, blocking off all the people who didn't have the the stamina to make it here. Having finally gotten the opportunity to rest I fall to my knees, panting. The only thing keeping Killua up is his skateboard. My throat and lungs sting pants escape my mouth. I glance around, seeing Leorio splayed ut on the ground panting with Gon by his side making sure he doesn't die, Kurapika's up against a wall panting. I smile to myself seeing that all my friends have made it, cause there was a point where Killua was all I was focused on and I'm glad I was, considering our conversation was probably the only thing distracting me from the echoing pain inside my legs.

I head Killua clear his throat and I look up at him, finding his hand lowered to help me up but he was refusing to look at me. I forced myself not to smile at the embarrassed boy and just took his hand, thanking him while doing so.

"Next, we'll be going through the Milsy Wetlands, a dangerous foggy place scattered with magical beast that feast upon humans," Satotz explain, plenty of the applicant shudder at the "Beasts that eat humans" part including Leorio but we all nod and start to follow him, I hear Leorio complain as Gon makes his way over to me and shamelessly grabs my hand.

"It looks really foggy and-" He starts

"You don't have to explain, Gon," I cut him off.

"You guys are cute," Killua teases and I just glare at him, his cheeks flush and he looks down, mumbling a sorry. Gon has burst into tears under my glare, so I don't blame Killua for getting flustered

Killua's POV

How can her eyes be so nice sometimes but meaner than Illumi's and my Father's when she wants to.. Scary...

Your PoV

I lose sight of everyone except Killua and Gon having them less than inches away from me but I hear all of the participants footsteps, having zoned out their little conversations including Killua's and Gon's conversation that I didn't bother to listen to. What I couln't zone out was that horror movie-esque scream.

Very theatrically the fog thins out around clown guy, Hisoka was his name if I remembered correctly. Right next to him was a dead body which made me unconsciously squeeze my brother's hand. I wish I knew what provokes Hisoka to make him kill the guy so I would know not to try it myself.

He cackles which I would be lying if I were to say that didn't frighten the hell out of me but I didn't let it show.

I take a glance around and see Killua unsurprisingly unfazed, Gon looked somewhat freaked out. I also found Leorio shirtless which probably freaked me out more than the cackling psychopath next to a dead body.

"How about I serve as an examiner to see if you all should move on in the exam," Hisoka cackles out.

At face value it seemed ridiculous but if you can't land a hit on one clown, are you fit to be a hunter? Leorio steps up to the challenge.

And gets his soul punched out of his body

He was knocked out before I could even process it, it was borderline comical. But not if it was Gon I wouldn't be suppressing a laugh. Nonetheless I let his hand slip out of mine. If he gets a concussion I doubt he'll be able to function for the rest of this phase of the exam. As Gon jumped up to attempt to attack Hisoka I watch as the clown winds back a heavy punch. Before my brain can process what I was about to do I did it, I jumped in front of Gon to take the punch. Even faster I was on the ground, pain all throughout my face. After that everything was fuzzy and blurry and hard to comprehend and only moments later did my ears start ringing.

I saw Hisoka pick up and start to walk away with Leorio, which makes me try to sit up and stop him but I feel to hands wrap around my shoulders and plant me to the ground. I raise my hand and place it on the area that hurts most on my face and draw it away to see if I'm bleeding. I am, but in a moderate amount.

"Y/N! Hey Y/N, can you hear me? Y/N!" Someone says but not only is it muffled but it only makes the ringing worst. I cover my ears and shut my eyes tight.

The pain begins to melt away and ears abruptly stop ringing and my body uncontrollably relaxes, only then I notice that I'm blacking out.
