There was something off about Kol, but Rory couldn't place what it was. He seemed like the cocky son of a bitch he always was, but there was something in the way that he walked. Don't get her wrong—he still exuded the aura like he owned everything and anyone, but there was something... nervous. Something about Professor Shane had him trembling like a little kid on Halloween night, and it intrigued Rory. She could tell that it had something to do with the cure to vampirism, if Rebekah and Kol's secretiveness had anything to do with it.

"I'm aware I'm dashingly good looking, but I'm fairly sure you can resist looking at me for one second," Kol commented as they exited the car, making their way towards the newly reopened Sinema.

"Something's up with you," Rory commented as Kol entered the club, closing the door behind him. He crushed the door handle in his hand, preventing anybody from making a fast exit. Nobody was aware of the incoming danger that just entered their little club. "You've been looking funny ever since you talked to that Professor Shane guy. What did he say to you?"

"Nothing he said—more so what he didn't say," Kol stated. "No need to worry your pretty little head about it."

"It has something to do with the cure, doesn't it?" Rory insistently trailed after him as he made his way towards the bar. When Kol didn't answer, Rory crossed her arms over her chest. "You know that Nik is after it and so is Rebekah."

"And so are you," Kol waved the bartender down, ordering a scotch. He sat himself on a barstool, nursing the glass in his hand. At Rory's shocked expression, Kol raised an eyebrow. "What, you didn't think I knew? From the first day I saw you, I knew being a vampire wasn't for you. Sure, you're fun when you feed but you let your humanity get in the way at the end of the day. It's absolutely no surprise that you would want the cure as much as Bekah and... literally every other vampire in the world, but I'm afraid that's not possible."

"My brother's one of the Five. He's literally the map for the cure. What makes you so sure that I won't be able to get it?"

"Oh, I'm sure you and your little group of friends will find a way. I'm here to ensure that you don't," Kol leaned against the bar top, tapping his fingers against the counter. "Nik is on the hunt for the cure just as much as Stefan and Damon are for poor little Elena. The difference is that he's doing it for you."

"Nik's doing it for Elena, too. He needs her blood to sire his hybrids; he knows that there's no way in hell I'd ever offer myself up to him to play blood bag," Rory responded.

"Is that what he told you?" Kol snorted. "Oh, Rory—my brother is in love with you. Fine, he may want to use Elena for his hybrids, but his endgame has always been you."

Rory blinked, a little shocked at Kol's words. "Okay, fine. Say it is so—what do you expect me to do about it? Nik doesn't listen to anyone. Not even me,"
