|| CHARLOTTE ||

|| Friday, October 25th ||

I'm sitting at the desk in my room, and my hands are through my hair. I took my eyes off the papers and looked at the clock.

7:00 PM? I probably should grab food. I stood up and felt dizzy. Shit. My hand gripped the desk and closed my eyes for a few minutes. I suddenly heard my cup of pens hit the ground, and I let out a sigh. This is why I should take breaks. I tried to bend down and grab the scattered items, but stopped midway and went back to my standing position. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea?

I heard the restroom door open and footsteps coming to my bedroom, "Char, are you okay?" I heard Jackie say as she approached me.

"Yeah, just dizzy," I sighed.

She let out a sigh, "I told you to take a break. Have you eaten?"

I was going to shake my head, but it might make my dizziness worse, "No," I responded.

"Charlotte," Jackie said.

"Don't use that tone with me," I whined, knowing she was angry.

"Fine. Are you nauseous? Tired? Can you move?"

"I'm slightly nauseous, kind of tired, and I can move if I go slow," I answered, shutting my eyes because I feel myself spinning.

"Okay, let's slowly move you over to sit on the bed. I can go make you some food from your fridge," Jackie said.

I slowly nodded as she took my hand, leading me over to the bed. I laid down, looking at the blank ceiling.

My heart was racing, and I gripped Jackie's hand tighter, "Thank you," I sighed.

"I'll sit with you for a few minutes before going and making your food," she said, handing me my water from the nightstand, "Please drink this."

I slowly sat up and took a sip of water. Jackie sat on the empty side next to me and held my hand.

"When did you start grading?" Jackie asked.

"When did you come over?"

"At 3:00 PM," she answered, "You've been grading non-stop? I thought you went to eat when I showered," she said.

"Yeah, then I just stared at papers and continued grading," I said.

"Baby," she sighed, "All right, can you manage? I'm going to grab some food. Call me if you need anything."

"Okay," I responded. Jackie kissed the top of my head and went to the kitchen.

After having some noodles and soup, I was slightly better. I was now on the couch with the T.V. on.

Jackie came over and sat with me after washing the dishes, "How much grading do you have left?"

"Just the rest of my fifth and sixth period," I said.

"Wow, you went through your first through fourth in four hours?"

"I went through part of my second, and all of my third and fourth within those four hours. I had to calculate partial credit and the points for that. It's more than you think," I sighed. "I want to get everything done before Monday, besides entering grades."

"It's not even the end of Friday," she said.

"I know. I thought, if I get everything done by the end of tomorrow, we could do something on Sunday," I said.

"That's sweet, but please, don't scare me like that again. What would have happened if I wasn't here?" She asked, "You could have hurt yourself."

"I know, I'm sorry."
