Chapter 42

We finished packing our things, and my arms are wrapped around Jackie's waist as she zips her bag.

"Can we stay here forever?" I asked.

"We would have to pay Madison rent," Jackie chuckled, and she turned around so she could fully face me. "This was fun. I'm glad we did this."

I nodded and leaned into her, kissing the lips that smiled warmly at me.

"Are we ready?" Jackie asked, and I nodded.

We looked around the house once more before exiting and making our way to her car. We stopped by a coffee shop and grabbed some breakfast, then made our way home.

I insisted that I would drive on the way back since Jackie was the one that drove us here. Through the drive, her soft music played as she was singing to all the songs.

I smile to myself as I let the GPS guide us back home. Luckily, her car's gear isn't in between the seats, so her legs are resting on mine as I drive. She sat with her back against the door facing me.

I've asked her multiple times if it was safe, and she just nodded and shrugged it off. I only chuckled, letting one of my hands control the wheel while the other ran up and down her leg. To my surprise, there wasn't much traffic on the road, so our time back was shorter than it was on the night we drove to Leavenworth.

When we were almost home, I noticed she fell asleep with one arm propped up at the window, leaning her head against it. Arriving back at the apartment, I parked the car and sat in here for a few minutes. She was still asleep, and she looked too cute to disrupt. But the car isn't as comfortable to sleep in, so I lightly took her hand and brought it up to my lips.

"Babe," I whisper.

She hummed and slowly opened her eyes, "Where are we?"

"Home," I said, and she blinked.

"Wow. How long was I out?"

"An hour," I said. "Come on. The bed is softer than a car seat."

She yawned, "You're right."

When we exited the car, I gave her the keys to unlock the door as I grabbed the bags. When I placed the bags in the living room, I noticed Jackie lying on the couch with her eyes closed.

I smiled and placed our belongings in the bedroom. I walk out to find Jackie still relaxing on the couch.

"I thought you were going into the bedroom to sleep," I smiled as I charged my phone on the kitchen counter.

She hummed, "This is as far as I can go." I walked over to her and picked her up, "Charlotte, what are you doing?"

"Carrying you to the bedroom," I said as I placed her on the bed and then laid down on top.

I heard her laugh, "You just want more room to cuddle."

"Would you like me to move?"

"No, not complaining. Just stating my observation."

"How would you be observing? Your eyes are closed."

"I don't need to see when I can feel your movements," Jackie said.

I buried my face at the skin of her neck, kissing it as her arms tighten around me. We remained here, and it didn't take long as I drifted off in a little nap.

We're currently making dinner. We took about a three-hour nap before getting up and unpacking all the clothes and items that we had in our bags.
