|| CHARLOTTE ||

|| Saturday, May 23rd ||

It was 3:00 AM, and I couldn't sleep. I'm sitting on the bed in tears. Oh, how I wanted to comfort her when she told me the truth. I felt guilty for the anger. Gosh, now I can't stop thinking about everything Carmen said to me.

~ Flashback ~

"I noticed some sexual tension between Yasmin and Jackie for a while now," Carmen said as she and I walked out of the school. I just witnessed something I wish I could erase from my mind. "I'm sorry you had to see that," Carmen added after seeing the frustration on my face.

"It's not your fault. Jackie's been spending so much time preparing for this event. It looks beautiful, she did an excellent job, nonetheless," I mumbled.

"At least they didn't kiss in front of you," Carmen added, and I turned my head to look at her.

"Jackie wouldn't do that."

"Maybe not, but didn't she date Shay while the both of you were on your break? Jackie practically cheated on you, Charlotte. Once a cheater, always a cheater."

I was going to ask Carmen what she was talking about, but I remembered what we told her the day that we exposed our marriage to Carmen. Jackie and I took a break, and she had a relationship with Shay for six months. I sighed, hating that we had to lie that way to make it sound believable.

"Well, off of that topic. I don't want to bring you down. Did you have fun today?"

"I did. Thanks to you. If you weren't here, then it might have been a boring and frustrating event to attend," I sighed.

"Always a pleasure, Charlotte. Besides, Yasmin had Jackie glued to her side the entire time. I didn't want to leave you alone, anticipating when she'll come over to greet you."

"I know, Jackie told me she's Yasmin's assistant for tonight. So, she already had the pressure at home earlier, getting ready to go back," I said.

"Wow. Hasn't the girl had enough? She already spent two weeks with Yasmin, and now she just spent an entire night around her and no one else," Carmen added. I think she was more saying it to herself.

"Carmen," I stopped her before she could get any further. "Can we not talk about my wife being around another woman. It might not be what it looks like, but I don't want to hear it."

"Sorry. I understand how you feel," Carmen said. "Confront her when she gets home. Tell her off. Don't let her off easy. She's probably waiting for us to leave so she can express her actions to Yasmin."

"Carmen!" I said, and she winced at my tone. We continued walking towards the parking lot, and I thought about Yasmin for a while, "You do know Yasmin is married, right?"

"Married or not, attractions are hard to hide," Carmen said, taking a bite of a cookie from the box in her hand.

I let out a shaky breath as we sat down at a bench near the school's front entrance, "I might wait for Jackie to walk out of the school. Everything might be a misunderstanding. I trust her."

"You didn't seem like you did earlier at all."

"She didn't even say hi to me. I don't even think she knew what I was wearing. This is the dress she bought me a while ago after our marriage."

"Well, might I say that you look stunning," Carmen complimented.

I smiled, "Thanks. Jackie's been distracted all night. I would be less pissed if she came over to say hi once then was busy with the tight schedule. It would be more reasonable."
