"Jackie, you're going to be late if you don't get up," I said.

She groaned, "Five more minutes."

"You've said that for fifteen minutes already. It's 7:00 AM. If you don't get your ass out of bed, I'm not waking you, and you're going to miss your final."

"Who cares, I'm tired," she whined. "It's the last day. I'm too lazy. Besides, if I don't make the final, my grade won't drop that much, right?"

"What do you have?"

"A ninety-four percent," she said.

"If you get a zero on this final, you're getting a C in the class," I said. "The final is twenty percent of your grade." She remained where she was. I walked over to her and shook her body, "Get up."

"No," she grumbled on the pillow.

I let out an exasperated sigh, "Fine." I snake my hands around her waist, pulled her closer to me, and lifted her over my shoulder.

"What the hell? Charlotte put me down," Jackie said, hitting my back. I walked to the restroom and placed her on her feet.

"There. You're up. I made breakfast, so come eat before it's cold," I said.

"I hate you," she said.

"I love you too," I pecked her lips before walking out to the kitchen.

After Jackie finally got out of the bedroom, she quickly ate her breakfast while looking over the exam's study guide.

"You'll be fine," I said.

"Who knows," she replied, chewing on a piece of toast.

"I designed the exam. You'll be fine, and unlike all your difficult exams, the final is the same as everyone else. I said that was the benefit."

She sighed, "Okay."

We split ways to our cars and drove to the school. I walked into the entrance and saw Carmen heading to her classroom.

"Morning," I said.

She looked over at me, more exhausted than the last time I saw her. "Hey, last day," she sighed.

"Yeah," I said, shocked that her usual cheerful self isn't in there. Instead, she has a monotone voice, with a hint of drowsiness. "I take it you had another bad night?"

She shuddered at the thought, nodding to my question. "It will go away soon. Once school is over, I can finally spend a whole day sleeping," she said, cracking a small smile at the corner of her lips.

"Okay. I'm here if you need someone to talk to," I said.

"Thanks, Charlotte. I'll see you later," Carmen said, patting my back and walking away.

I watched her walk to her classroom and unlocked the door. I feel bad for her, she's exhausted, unsure what's going on, but it looks like something big happened. I want to ask her and comfort her, but I might be overstepping the boundary. I'll just wait for her to come and tell me when she wants to.

As the bell rang, I saw the exhaustion float through my sixth-period class.

"All right, last two finals. We're almost at the end."

"How are you not tired, Ms. Evans?" Sarah asked.

"Oh I am, I'm just trying to get through the day as much as all of you. We're almost there," I said.
