Hunters (Pt. 2)

"Who are you?"

Astrid's face fell and her heart started pounding once she heard those words. He didn't know who she was? They grew up together! They were best friends!

"Hiccup, I'm... Astrid."

Hiccup moaned as he moved his head in pain so he could take the whole picture in. He touched the source of the wound, and winced. "Oww.."

But however, that was when he noticed two dragons were in the room.

"AAAHHH! WHY ARE THEIR DRAGONS IN HERE?!?!?" Hiccup tried to move to the far side of the bed, as if to get as far away from them as possible, but it was hard for him because of his injury so he just gave up.

"Hiccup, don't- you don't remember Toothless? You trained him in the cove, remember?" Astrid asked, as Toothless walked up next to her. She winced from her injury on her arm that he brushed up upon.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I TRAINED A DRAGON?!?!?!?!" He exclaimed once more, his eyes risen with fear. However, yelling made his head throb even more, so he tried laying back down, despite the fear.

"Hiccup," Astrid said in a serious tone, "what's the last thing you remember?"

Hiccup paused, still frightened by the reptiles in the room, thinking. "I don't know. I don't even know who I am. Do you know who I am? Where am I, anyway? What happened?"

Astrid gasped silently. Does he even know his own name??

She then gulped quietly, too scared to ask more questions, but she knew she had to. "Hiccup, you sure you don't remember anything?"

"Please, get those creatures out of here before they eat the both of us," Hiccup pleaded timidly, holding his head from the throbbing.

Astrid got up and looked at the dragons, with a silent tear falling. "Just leave us be."

The dragons did as told and left, but very disquieted and sad. Toothless took one last glance at his rider before leaving, and left with sad, puppy-dog eyes.

Astrid sat back down and repeated her question. "You don't remember anything?"

At this Hiccup thought for a moment, more easily since the dragons left. "I-I don't know..."

"What's your name?"

"Hiccup, I think... you keep calling me that," he answered.

Astrid gulped again. "What's your last name?"

"My last name? I... I don't know. Can you please tell me where I am? I don't know how I got here. Who are you? Am I supposed to know you?"

Astrid sighed sadly and explained how he got in the accident, lost his memory, and where he was, and who she and Toothless was.

"Do you at least know what Berk is?" 

"Um, no. What is it?"

At this, Astrid could feel the pressure of tears coming. She tried to fight them, but she couldn't hold them off anymore.

"I'll be back later. Get some sleep." With that she left Hiccup for her hut, and started crying. How could this have happened?

She felt Stormfly next to her, cuddling her. Astrid hugged her, despite her injury, as if something part of her life just disappeared. Like an old childhood toy just suddenly vanished. Like... her best friend doesn't even remember her. But it wasn't just friendship. It was more than that, something potential. Something amazing that made her heart bounce. But she denied it and so did he.
